| Hi,
Earlier this year I posted a message where I asked about fishing LOTW early august. Time runs quickly, tomorrow we will fly from Sweden to Canada for my first visit on the continent and my first try on the magnificent escoid, Musky. I will thank you all for very nice information on baits and tactics. I recieved good quality recomendations thru e-mails, in the thread and via PM´s.
If anybody has any up to date info on how fishing is right now on LOTW I will be thankfull. I will write you a report when my week on Youngs is over.

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Roger- I'd be talking to Bob Pieske (" rpieske" on this forum). Bob's been fishing muskies up there for ~40 years. I can't think of anyone who could possibly have a better understanding of the current fishing conditions.
One rule for someone who is a pike fisherman. Muskies will follow a bait right up to the boat- Do not take your lure out of the water! Push the reel release and hold the spool with your thumb then Figure 8 the lure, or do a big circle. Don't be afraid to stick the rod right into the water and make a big figure 8 or big cirlcle. The fish is focused on the lure. They will sometimes follow mutiple figure 8's & then hit the lure.
BTW- Bring your Zalt's or Zam's - Muskies love them.
Most of all have fun!

| I agree with the Zalt and Zam comment. Those baits are my primary fish catchers. They are REALLY hot in Sweden for giant northerns,a nd the Muskies TEAR Them up here! | |

| If you're fishing in Stevens Bay, just listen to whatever Perry tells you. He'll have the hottest lures available and he'll set you up with a good milk run to follow. We fished there last year and had lots of follows. I just wasn't good enough to get them to eat. I screwed up about 3 figure 8's and on the last follow my wife screamed "oh my god it's huge" as a 48" plus fish followed her lure (and weed) right back to the boat. I raised him again, but I think he was wise by then.
Best of luck & tell Perry "ErieBoy" from Lorain said hi!

Ok very nice! Yes! They are the #1 big pike lure in Sweden. What exactly do you mean by your comment with the capitalized word "TEAR"?
There is no big secret that when the first Zam's were released in the USA market circa 2002, there was a problem with the plastic formulation, i.e., it was to brittle. Eric Larsen (MuskieE on this forum) lost a fish of a lifetime because the fish broke off with half the lure in it's mouth. In fact MuskieE posted it here on MF before contacting me. Was the lure cracked before that from hitting a rock, etc. neither of us will ever know, and it really doesn't matter. Eric's loss made me sick to my stomach. I personnally drove over 200 miles to deliver him replacement lures and pick up the broken lure so we could send it back to Zalt SE for analysis. We immediately contacted Zalt SE and asked that they re-evaluate the plastic formula to make it less brittle. They did!
BTW- Eric also reported phenominal success with the Zam, prior to the loss of his big fish, including a 48" fish.
I have a bumblebee 19CM Zalt that looks like it went through world war #3, i.e., it really has with WI River muskies. A good friend of mine has a 22 CM Zam that looks the same way!
I have been fishing with both Zalt's and Zam's since 2001 with +100 muskies into the net, I can honestly say I have never seen the same issue. I also know of other muskie fisherman that quietly catch big fish after big fish, and I mean really big fish on Zalt's and Zam's. They just don't want any noteriety about the fish they are catching or where, and how.
So what really was the point of your post? Perhaps I'm reading to much into this one word, or maybe I just don't like anonymous ambiguous post's.
