Anybody ever fish for them? I don't know a better way to understand a fish other than to fish for them. I've caught plenty of them in the winter but have never tried for them in the summer. Anyone do it, and how do you go about it?

vertical jig with 1/4 oz or less swedish pimples, jigging spoons, teardrops. if legal where you are, use a dropper above the metal, #8 single gold hook with one or two 4 mm beads above it, no bait. you choose the bead color, but i start with red and/or orange. jig at the level they appear on your locator. once i see what depth they are at, i turn off the locator, seems to increase number of hits.
if they are coming to the surface, fly rod with dry fly or emerging midge pupa imitation can work, but i find it #*^@ difficult to hook up solid with the fly rod. lots of one or two rod bucks then slack line.
they fight well and eat well also.

I fish alot for tulibee in the winter here in minnesota. Tie a big spoon on your line about 2 feet above a crappie jig. Fish deep they should be suspended. Taste great when smoked. As far as summer, never fished for them. Good luck fishing.
