Subject: Esox Magnum question

I just picked up a new Esox Magnum. While rigging my electronics, I noticed a soft spot between the rear storage door and the live well door on the port side. As I walked along that left side of the boat, it seemed to flex a bit in that small area(just above the left side of live well) and I'm about 175lbs. Is this normal or should it be a concern???? I felt if a bigger guy stood up there, it may crack the fiberglass.

I have a similar issue on my esox mag. It hasnet been a problem as of yet but I considered fixing it early but dont think it is really necessary.

Hey Guys,
I also just bought an esox mag. and was wondering if anyone has had any problems with the carpet? It seems to be a little rough around the edges and was worried that it might peel eventually because it was not tucked under the bump guard on the side. Just wondering if this is normal??

MD-The carpet seems to be fine on my boat. Did you buy new or used?

MD,
No, your carpet won't peel there. It feels a bit rough at the match between the gunnel and the carpet because of the adhesive there, without that adhesive it WOULD peel. The synthetic gunnel doesn't allow for the carpet to be 'tucked under', so it's adhered to the glass and matched up with the seam along the gunnel. My new 1890 DGC is built and finished the same way.

To the flex in the floor, that floor isn't 'fiberglass', it's a composite material. Flexing isn't abnormal, and no, it won't crack or break, but if you are concerned, call the factory and have it looked at. Customer service will be happy to address any concerns.

Any Magnum owners experiencing water getting into the dry storage areas? Is there suppose to be a drain in the bottom of these compartments in the event water does get in?

No. no drain, if there was a drain, the water would get into the compartments when there is water in the hull, and moisture would be a problem. If you have water getting in, the latch leaking is the culprit about 99% of the time. Take the latch apart, silicone the seal at the door seal with the latch, and tighten. One way to find out where the water is getting in is to make sure it starts out dry, latch her down, then flood with a hose and see where the drips are. Be sure the latches are closing tightly, too.

If the boat is on the trailer and is 'nose down' and water pools on the front deck, it may find a way past one of the seals. Always crank the nose of the boat up when sitting out in the weather.

By the way, the factory number for Customer Service and questions is 800.359.4416.
