I have a Sony Cyber-shot And The camara turns on and The screen turns on but it remains black its almost like the camara lens cover is on but its not so when you try to take a pic it comes out black. Any help on the situation

The CCD is probably shot or 'disconnected'.

Whats a good digital camera regardless of price?

I think the Nikon's are pretty good camera's. I really like the two that Steve and Zach use. F50 and F70, I think? A bit more than I need or want to spend. Like a good 35mm SLR, you have options for lenses.

That said, I have a Kodak that I've been using for about 5 years now, and it still takes great pics. It's 3.2 MegaPixel, and has a fairly decent optical zoom. Optical zoom is the important number when talking zoom, when compared to digital zoom.

The thing I like about the Kodak's is the docking station. Transfer pics at the push of a button, auto charge the battery, and even print pics in high quality. Easy to do.

The new Nikon D40 would be an excellent choice. Add a $60 Pelican case, and you are in business. I can take 280 6 megapixel images on one 1 Gig SD card, about $12 for the card at Wally World.

I've been very happy with my Pentax W30....waterproof so I don't have to worry about it in the rain etc...can take cool release pics....easy to use and download pics to computer...3 x optical and 7 megapixels I think...pics turn out nice...
