| I'm looking to get a new boat and have it narrowed down to the cherokee 218 and the 1850 fishhauk. I need aboat that my wife can ski out of and my two kids can learn toski out of. A fish'n'ski boat is out of the question. The ranger seems to be deeper and safer for small kids. I haven't seen to much talk on this site regarding it though. | |

| The 1850 fishhawk is plenty deep. I think it has a better layout for fishing too. The ranger is a good boat, too, they are both made by genmar. My money would goto the fishhawk. | |

| My two worthless opinionated cents on the subject is that the Cherokees just don't impress me that much. Now their 600 series glass is another story altogether. It just seems like they felt they were missing out on the "middle end" boat buyer market and threw a little something out there. I know I'm oversimplifying, but I really like Crestliner as far as aluminum boats go. I have a Superhawk, but someday I wanna have either a Ranger or a Tuffy. The thing is when Grampa Joe or Jason sell theirs, I never have the money. There will come a day, though, when everything clicks and it'll happen. So I've got dibs on the used 2010 models. LOL | |

| For what it's worth--- this is the last year that Ranger is going to make aluminum boats. | |
