| how fast, would a 5 horsepower motor push a 15 or 16 foot flat bottom aluminum boat?
(if i didnt have 400 pounds of gear in it). just 2 people and minimal equipment.

| I HAD AN AIR COOLED 5 HP ABOUT A STONE AGE AGO AND IT WAS ON A 14 FT V AND IT WAS BETTER THAN ROWING BUT NOT TOO MUCH FASTER. IT WILL WORK BUT DON'T EXPECT GREAT THINGS. |

| Look at last months Bass and Walleye Boats page on the web. There is an article that deals with kicker motors and it will give a formula to calculate how fast a motor will push a boat. |

Location: London, England | Hi Tom, I would be surprised if you got more than 5 or 6 mph out of it. Martin has a 12ft sea nymph with a 6hp and gets about 8mph with both of us in and just over 11 on his own. |
