In my limited musky career, I've had most of my luck fishing with tall guys. Actually, almost all my luck with one tall guy in particular, Joel Michel. I also lost a supertanker on Eagle fishing with my friend Zig, from CA, who is 6'3". Most of that has to do with Joel's ability to put a fat man like me near fish, but I like to think the dichotomy of his ranginess and my, shall we say, stoutness, has something to do with our success when fishing together, kind of a Laurel and Hardy meet the Esox sort of thing.

This weekend, I'm going to test this theory fishing Sturgeon Bay with not just one tall fellow, but two. Sunday, the tall, if not freakishly so, Troy Schoonover (Bytor), and I, will be churning up the water the big Great Lakes strain muskies call home. Guiding us to these giants will be the venerable Dennis Radloff, a literal skyscraper of a musky guide. Considering I'll be sharing a boat with what must be close to 13 linear feet of musky catching expertise, I'm feeling quite positive about my chances of hooking into a musky, and not just A musky, but maybe THE musky of a lifetime.

As if just being in a boat with almost 13 feet of musky catching experience is not enough to create some unbelievably positive MOJO, other factors should also contribute. Bytor informs me that the heavens will be cooperating with a moon phase of some sort.

We will also be fishing not far north of Green Bay, where my beloved Packers will have strapped on their pads and begun to slam into each other the day before, in what again may be Brett Favre's final campaign. The Packers make me happy.

If that's not enough, on Friday, The Simpsons Movie hits the big screen. I love the Simpsons, and can't help but think the fact that Homer Simpson will be cavorting, drinking, and eating his way across the screens of theatres everywhere, can only result in a positive outflow of energy to robustly built men across this great country of ours.

I'm excited, can you tell? I can't wait to get in Dennis' big Princecraft. I've seen it, it's like fishing from a PT boat.

Kevin, you aren't vertically challenged. It's just that you were born with the gene that causes gravity to affect you more, thus the shorter, broader stature!

Positive things happen to positive thinking people. Good luck and please post your results. I've been dying to hear how Dennis is doing this year, up there, so far.

How did it go?

I fished in shipping canal of Sturgeon Bay near the end of June and didn't have any luck. I am curious to hear how other people are doing.
