Location: Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin | I would say that it depends on the type of lake you are fishing and the water clarity. On LOTW it would depend on what section you are fishing. If you are on trout water, typically clear water, more natural colors work well for me. If you are on meso water, that may have less visibility & possible algae bloom, you would likely want to go with something a little brighter. These are kind of obvious generalizations, but hard to say without further info. Lots of lakes have hot colors that work well regardless of any of the above info. If you go to fish with Steve Herbeck on Eagle Lake, he is a huge fan of black bucktail with orange blade, & he has many monsters to show for it. If you have the lake that you are fishing, or area of a larger lake like Lake of the Woods, post it & you may get a little bit better info. If it is a lake that no one here fishes, like the lake that I go to up there, it may help to describe the lake type at least. I just PM'd another member that fishes a lake similar & close in proximity to the lake that I fish. Wondered if there was any type of pattern developing on the lake that he fishes that I could use on the lake that I fish. He had some good input that I will likely use & hopefully get on some fish. | |
