Hello all,

I will be heading to Marquette/Negaunee MI area for the week-end, daughter is playing in the 11/12 yr. old state softball tournament. Any recommendations on Musky lakes in the area? We will be staying at the Country Inn & Suites in Marquette. I'm debating on whether to haul the Polar Kraft up there and chase some fish. It will only be for the week-end, i've got an 8hr. drive from Mattawan MI.

Red - 8 hours to get from here (I live in Lawton) to Marquette? I would think more like 10-12 considering all the RVs. Be careful hauling your boat at night; I drove over a fat dead doe on Hwy 2 at about 4:00am one trip. Required welding up a new axel and replacing the tires and wheels. That was a $450 dead deer in the road.

Have fun in Marquette. Forget the name, but there's an older hotel (w/ dining room) downtown that serves GREAT food. I always stayed there when in Marquette on biz.

Safe trip!

Went to college at Mich Tech and I could head you in the direction of some northern pike lakes that put out 20 lbers every year, if it was spring or fall I could hook you up with some good rivers for steelhead/salmon.. Didn't even know musky lakes existed while I was going to school there, too busy chasing the river fish.. Steer and Stein is a good restaurant right on the main road through Marquette.. If you are interested in a chance at some big northerns let me know... It has been 10 years though...
