| For entertainment purposes only. Have you ever timed yourself launching or pulling your boat out of the water?
Just for grins I timed myself while pulling the boat out of the water the other night. From the time I was in the truck, to the time I was leaving the landing was 2:59.
Nothing fancy about it, and I wasn't running. Backed the truck up, floated the boat onto the trailer, cranked it up, chain on, and I'm gone, 2:59. I've often wondered what takes so long when launching or loading a boat. If you have ever timed yourself, how long does it take you? |

| I wish you were the guy in front of me. I always get the person that takes 15 minutes to get their trailer in the water straight and then they start loading.

Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | I dont know how fast and doubt that I am the fastes but I do know for certain I am FAR FAR FAR from the slowest. Even as a one man operation. I dont understand why more people dont practice if necessary. Or ask for help. Thats the one that gets me. I'm usually the first one to open my mouth when others are having difficulties. And whe I do offer assistance, its as if I just insulted someone. C'mon. most people who are a bit out of practice know who they are and should get over the perception of having been insulted. The idea for EVERYONE is get in and get out....quickly.

| With my old 620 tiller and my truck right there, I was under a minute. Is there an Olympic event? I'm all in. Steve |

Pretty cool to come on hot and nail it with an audience.
Every year a bunch of the big boaters at the marina next to the landing pull up chairs to watch the landing antics after the works. |

Location: minocqua, wi. | i've launched and loaded like most of you about a zillion times mostly alone or with my 4 kids. i remember one occasion with my 4 kids going into minocqua ... stop the truck and 4 kids jump out ... little ones into the boat putting their life jackets on, the older two grab mooring ropes, i quickly unhook safety straps ... back trailer in, drive away and return to the boat in a guest slip with 4 kids just ready to head out ... under 2 minutes easy and the people there had their jaws on the ground and couldn't believe what they had just seen ...
it can and should be done quick and easy, but most of us do it enough to make it just putting the boat in and out and to the vast majority it is and always will be "an event" ...
i think a guy could really get entertainment just putting a lawn chair with some cold bush lites near a landing and watch the fiasco for the day! ... a great place to see family and spousal dynamics at work LOL |

Location: Contrarian Island | speaking of a guy in a lawn chair at the landing...was on a lake this past saturday morning in Vilas, came in to jump to a new lake at like 7:30 am, there was a guy there sitting in a fold up chair..he watched me come in, load my boat (by myself) quickly and easily then talked to me about the milfoil invasion etc etc...then said to me "so i take it you've done that a few times"
i said "yah, I have it down to a science"
as Ruhmmy tells me..."geezuz you don't #$&! around do you!"

| I think my personal favorite is the guy who hasn't run his boat yet. Rather than move, he sits in the way of the landing tending to his stalling motor. |

Location: minneapolis | This past 4th of July I was at the busiest boat landing / park near downtown Minneapolis. I was parked right next to the trailer rig parking area. The entire scene was a complete nightmare, complicated by low water levels on the Mississippi. Then something very interesting happened. 2 guys who were waiting for their turn to move their trailer from their parking spot were very gently "helping" direct others, which was great considering it was dark and passenger cars were short cutting thru the launch area to by-pass exit traffic in additon to the crazy people all over the place. As the rig next to theirs was backing up I began thinking- that dude is way too close to that other trailer, and just then- CRUNCH ! The 2 guys said "Hold it- you hit ours!" I fully expected a major knockdown fight scene as the crunch was a pretty good one. Instead, the guys pulled their trailer over and moved it out of the crunch zone, took a good look at the damage and said- "No problem- this stuff happens on a night like this- we can fix the damage. It's not that bad. They all shook hands- helped the guy finish loading up - and off they went. I was stunned. It kind of renewed my faith in humanity. My instincts were they must have Muskie guys -

| Cool story... and yes, I am the fastest there will ever be, I heard a 5 second one but sorry friend, I can do it in 3!!!
In all seriousness on my home waters I can easily get my truck load my boat n be gone while 3 people are still trying to get there boat to hit the rollers right. Probalby not the fastest by along shot, but I'm yet to be beatso far. Than again I've never gone head to head with a fellow musky fisherman so I probably don't even know what fast is. lol |

Location: Brookfield, WI | I don't know much about launching or loading boats, other than everyone I've fished with can do it impressively.
When I was younger, I did not have good straight line speed, but I had quick feet and lots of moves. Now that I've aged and enlarged, I've lost most of my foot quickness.
I am, however, light on my feet for a big man, and still have some of my moves. I think it's safe to say most would consider me an excellent dancer.
My hands remain lightning fast. How fast? On three separate occasions, I have snatched a cup of coffee out of Slamr's hand, drained it, and returned it to his hand empty. Other than to peer into the cup with a confused look after his next unsuccessful sip, he has never noticed.
I have also NEVER failed to enjoy the last piece of a pizza if hunger deemed I should make it mine.
