Just got mine awhile back ( THANKS Andy...) and will be tossing it after HUGE pike on the Goon in a couple weeks on the deep reefs. Eleven Inches Big, weighs 8 ounces, sinks at 1' per second, and swims like a Sucker....this will catch fish!

Where can you buy the 11"ers?
I can only find the regular ones and the 13" versions.

Steve,

Bait looks interesting, I have a quick question for you. Do you think that fishing the shallow weeds in less than five feet will produce muskies in other places besides the Goon? I am talking specifically about the lakes in Northern IL, and SE Wis... please let me know what you think, I am trying to get a few big ones in the boat before the end of summer and I want to hook one with my father, let me know...

The Slop holds fish on many lakes and systems, try it if temps are cool enough. I fish Moen, Pelican, and other waters here in 3' or less all season long!

Steve, at what temperatures would you say the fish (muskies) start moving out from the slop into deeper water? In general of course.

On some waters they don't even into the 80's. Sometimes it's cooler water that holds 'em out further, usually not even IN the weeds at that point.

Do any of the shops have the 11"ers yet? I have been anxiously awaiting this size since the rumors began. Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm not sure why, but I when I saw the bait, I didn't picture you rippin' it as hard as you could right when the sun was coming up.

Here’s a selection of a few colors I made. Some of them might make it into the standard color range; let me know what you think.

I made a shallow version of the 11” Curly Sue and fitted 2 number 10 blades in front. The blades make a huge bulge at the surface and the long tall flows like a ribbon behind it. The best thing is the bait runs straight and does not turn over. This will make a great night bait or surface bait. If the blades are fitted to the sinking bait it can be worked close to the bottom very slowly just enough speed to get the blades spinning. The extra long curly again flow behind it.
I was thinking of offering the blades as an option. I know a lot of people can make them as well and trust me it looks so good I was going to jump in after it!
If anybody is worried about the Curly Sue’s tail getting bitten off, then don’t, I also offer replacement tails.

If anybody is having problems then send them back to me and I will deal with it. I have never heard of color separation. Most of these problems have been with the Formula-X soft plastic. These problems are the main reason I no-longer use the stuff. I will openly admit that Formula-X was not the right move for Shack Attack Lures. That’s why all of my baits are now hand poured here in the USA again using my custom mix of soft plastic.

On a different note, have a look at the new Suzy Spin that is about to hit the stores. This is based on the 6” Suzy Sucker (it comes fitted with a belly treble). I have nearly finished working on a 9” version! The 11” Suzy Sucker is next for the spin treatment.

Andy,
I'll speak with this guy later this week and ask him to show me those lures so I can see what 'color seperation' is. He builds custom soft plastic baits, so he already has the answers, if indeed he needs any. I have several Suzy Suckers, two of which I have several hours on, no troubles yet.

Will I be able to tell the difference between the Formula-X products versus the hand poured? There are some retailers around my area and I've looked at picking one but who knows when they ordered those products. I assume chances are they ordered this previous winter or spring.

I guess I could always get one and if I have problems it sounds like Shack Attack are a stand-up group and would exchange it, but it would save on some hassle for both of us.

Thanks in advance..

If the bait is really soft and stretches loads then its Formula-X. you can tell the hand poured baits as they are much firmer and the colors are mixed together during pouring and not painted.

Ovlo, if you are not happy with the bait you bought then send it back to me. I will send you two new baits in return and if you are still not happy I will refund the cost of your first bait.

na that lure is in the trash. I like the thumper tail on your lures they look great in the water. the one I had was really soft. I am going to webster lake in northern indana. I will look for the new plastic type you are selling and try it out.

Targa01,

I would guess that any of the musky specific retailers will be able to tell you if they have the Formula X baits or not. It's their job to know these things. Some of the big box retailers the employees won't all be as knowledgable. But if the retailer you're at has them in packaging, it will tell you as well. Musky Tackle Online has the original hand poured plastic, no Formula X.

Thanks SA and Aaron. These are definetly painted so they must be the Formula-X models. This isn't a big name place, just a local surplus store that carries a few sporting good items. I just figured it was more painless just to stop and buy one without ordering but I will have to just have to order.

And on another note, personally if I had problems or found defects with a product I would go back to the supplier or manufacturer first and see what they have to offer for customer service, well before I would ever complain 'outloud.' OFFERING 2 NEW LURES FOR 1 DEFECT! To ensure customer satisfaction, you can't beat that!

And that, ovlo, is why the anonymous complaint was deleted. Andy will take care of you if you have a problem, but can't address an anonymous rant. We can't confirm an anonymous rant, either, so we can't publish one. Funny how that works.

Pull on the tail, if it stretches a foot you have the Formula X model.

I have bought lots of stuff that falls apart and never said a thing. I bought the lure over a year ago. if I was really salty about it I would have taken it back where I bought it. or sent a letter to who made the thing. it didnt really bother me then and it dosent really bother me now.

It just so happens that I found this forum and you guys are talking about tha lure I bought. everyone comes here to discussthings like this. good or bad thats what internet forums are for. At least I thought?

Any how I'm off to fish for the next 3 days.

That statement wasn't really directed towards you ovlo. It was a general statement I decided to make because we've all seen it before on these forums where it turns ugly with a few anonymous bashing. I just used the 2 for 1 deal to highlight how much SA was willing to correct the problem, that's all. You're correct, we all like to hear the good and bad and even the manufacturers like to hear that as well as it can help them make better products. Steve was just protecting individuals on this site from anonymous bashing of a good lure manufacture. Like I said, stick around this site for a while and you will see why things were done and said. Constructive criticism is always welcomed.

Good luck fishing
