Some of you that frequent this board were lucky enough to meet my friend Shawn at the BBQ we put on at Smokey's for the opener of the southern WI musky season. Last week, Shawn's father had open heart surgery. Yesterday at 5:00 he had a massive heart attack which put him in a coma from which he won't recover. He is being removed from life support this afternoon.

Shawn's dad was a wonderful man. 100% Irish Catholic, he and his wife Peggy raised nine children. He was an icon as both an HONEST lawyer and judge here in the City of Waukesha. Compassionate, funny, friendly, and giving, he and Peggy ran a household where my friends and I have been welcome for over 30 years. The door was never locked, and it was a place where a beer, a sandwich, and friendly conversation were always available. Through the years his home was a haven for a plethora of exchange students, nuns, and priests.

He was an avid golfer, and Shawn and I spent more than a few fine days whacking golf balls around with he and his cronies. Due to my low handicap, and their skills on their home course, these days typically ended with me opening my wallet for the final payout. Suffice to say, any small sums lost were usually then spent in the bar to every one's benefit.

Take a minute today and think about great Dads everywhere. They're important, and the good ones really make a difference.

Kevin Dunn

I'll have a Guinness for you, Bill.

I will too. Never met the man (obviously), but if you say he was a good man, that's good enough for me.
The family will be in my thoughts.

Our prayers to Shawn and his family.
Last week, my father-in-law passed away after a 2 yr. battle with cancer. We were his caregivers for the entire time. He was like a dad to me, and it was a great loss when he passed on.
May he go in peace, without suffering.

on a musky related note, I went fishing the morning after the funeral, and caught a fish not 30 min. on the water. I like to think it's cuz he's up there putting in a good word or two for me. :D

Shawn's Father passed away quietly after being removed from life support yesterday at 3:00 pm.

I hope St. Pete has been hitting some practice balls and working on his short game, because Big Bill is one tough 20 handicap when there's a couple bucks on the line.

Kevin

A Guinness for Bill.
