| Fished the North End last weekend in the heat and heavy bugs at night. If you are fishing at night - a bug suit or head net anyway is essential. Bring plenty of drinking water as well.
We fished it hard and after about 20 hours of fishing we had 3 follows and 0 in the boat. No one else was doing anything either so we must have just missed it with our timing.
Good luck up there. |

| There is always a TON of people fishing it even it they aren't going. Trolled it sunday for pike and walleye and had a blast. Lots of muskie porposing but didn't see or hear of anybody doing anything. |

| put in 20 hrs up there also this weekend and didnt raise a fish either. First time in a while that I have worked that hard and drummed zero interest. Fished north and east. Saw one caught early morning throwing same stuff as me. |

Location: Elk River, MN | Friday night around 6:00pm had one miss topwater and the rest of the night until 10:30pm was a bust. 5:00am Saturday morning wind was blowing out of the South so we moved to the South end. Not that many boats up there Friday night but we got to watch a couple decent firework displays. That was cool to fish after dark watching fireworks.

Location: Mille Lacs | I experienced the same as most of the reports. I did have two boat-side hits without hooks into them last weekend, but both were small fish. Besides that, only lookers the past few weeks. I'll be putting the boat on the trailer this weekend to find the hot bite. |

| Been really slow on the north end! Fished on the 3rd and 4th from Garrison to Myr Mar to Wealthwood. Quite a few follows and hits but no hook-ups. Rocks on the south are still the best bet. Accesses at Isle arent too bad but there are a few hidden boulders so watch your props! On the north end either use the public access near Myr Mar (wealthwood is very shallow!) or use Barnevelds Resort if youve got 10 bucks... Good Luck and we'll see ya on the water!

Location: Forest Lake, Mn | A couple of us went up yesterday 7/13. Spent from 5:30 am until 1:30 pm. We threw a veritable feast to the piggy of the North and came up dry. I noticed no one up on the sand and most were concentrating on the weeds from The Red door to where they ended. The wind made the float easy and the return trip was a little rough in our skiff. I did get up to Wealthwood and drifted back to the Red Door but never saw a fish. The highlight of the trip (besides just being there) was spotting a good size Musky doing the porpoising trick about 20 yards from us. My guess was it was a 40 incher and I know the brute saw us because it stuck it's tongue out! Anyway we are going to give it a go in another week and see if we can get our luck to turn around.

Location: Forest Lake, Mn | We fished the North end on Friday. We were about the only ones out there until late afternoon. We saw two musky enjoying the sun and I caught a 24" Walleye. By Sat the wind made things pretty tuff. Everyone we talked to said the Musky were going mid week but things dried up by the weekend. Sunday we went to Cove for a couple of hours to get out of the wind. Caught 4 Northerns about 4 pounds each and caught a large mouth bass. Only boat in the bay for the time we were there. No Musky.

| Fished Vineland Saturday. One 50+ follow and one 35" Northern. Fished Wahkon Sunday morning 7 follows, one took a hard bite at the tail of bulldog on figure 8. Some were repeats I'm sure. All fish where mid 30's to mid 40's. Northerns where on fire in Wahkon, destroyed both of my favorite colored bulldog.
By the way, any tips on repairing bulldogs? Tried super glue in a desperate situation this morning but didnt seem to keep them put together. Both were tore up by the eye that attaches to the leader. Neither would stay tuned...
Thanks |
