Location: St. Louis, MO., Marco Is., FL, Nestor Falls, ON | LOTW is OK for night fishing. A good idea during the dog days of summer. Make sure you have your navigation lights and anchor lights lit. BE CAREFUL. The lake looks different at night. Have your trails saved so you don't hit a reef. Isn't GPS great? |

Location: Algonquin, ILL | I asked Doug Johnson basically the same question when I fished with him, His relpy was " Sure it's good at night but why bother when the fishing during the day is just as good"

| Night fishing + daytime fishing = additional opportunities and a way to optimize time on the water. This is more or less a "just in case" desperation move. |

| Bring your bug spray. We tried staying out after dark this past week and the mosquitoes pretty much carry you away. |

| I would make sure you are set up before it gets dark and have plenty of lights of you need them. When it gets dark up there it gets really dark. |

Definitely a plan to consider. Sad to say I botched a net job on one of the biggest fish I'd seen one night on the Woods. I'm sure you'll find the right time to give it a try. If the days are clear and HOT give yourself a break and get out of the midday heat and reurn to the spots you know atfter dark. You definitely need to be familiar with the waters you plan on fishing at night priarily for saftey reasons.
Good Luck and Be Safe

| We fished 2 nights on our 4 day trip on LOW last week, we had better fishing late morning , mid-afternoons and evening before dark, though we managed a 47" after dark. |

| Thanks everyone for the responses! I think the smart thing to do is to fish spots near camp that are likely fish holding spots, or fish spots just off main/secondary channels. In other words, fish spots easy to get to and from reducing the probability of running into something. I've stayed out until it was virtually dark in the past, but never into the night. Might have to give it a shot. If this year is anything like it was last year (midday action best) we won't have to hit the night bite... but we may just for kicks. |
