Location: chicago | Last week I was fishing and behind my boat I saw a musky swimming up side down. His belly was pointed toward the sky. He also kept sticking his head out the water. This went on for about 5 minutes. I know he wasnt dying cause he would turn over and then swim on the surface. Until finally he took off. The only thing I can think of is he had a leeach on one of his gills. Anyone ever see this before? I saw tigers do this before but not muskies. The lake I was fishing doesnt have any tigers. Any ideas???? |

| even when the spawn has been done for a long time, fish just like any other animal will go through the motions of spawning......
He must have been bored. hehe
Its fun to watch playful fish like that, most of the time I think they are trying to shift that big meal they just sucked down though. indigestion if you will. |

| I have seen tigers do it a lot as well, never seen pure strains do it but I have a friend that seen 10 fish in one day doing it on Leech Lake before a storm blew in.
That fish had a leech on it, this guy was fishing on Leech Lake, THAT MUST BE THE CONNECTION... LEECHES! hehe

Location: Bloomington, MN | Was it a Goofy Tiger?? I've never seen the topsey turvey swim, but dem dere tiggars are the burnt peanuts of the toothy critter world. Every time we saw one swimming with it's noggin out out the water, my friend would state "Another one infected with gill fleas!". It's time for another "I remember when!" Pelican Lake story!!! In the gosh darn 70's a resort guest stated that he saw a stick shaped figure pop out of the water during a couple of evenings and cruise the weed bed off of Sabinois Point (if anyone sees a weed out there..call me collect...thanks Pa Otis the Rusty Crab importer!!). After 3 evenings of seeing this he finally witnessed a BIG Muskie (probably upper 40") swimming across the surface with a Suick impalled in it's yap vertically. If the ski that your friend saw was on St. Clair(e), it was probably due to the accepted, yet psychotic release practice of doing a Captain Ahab Spear Chucker Jones release!!!! It fills them with a good burst of water into their gills and tummies, and makes them snap back into shape...keep trolling at full speed with the 12+ lines out Captain Jointed Basement Bait Reverse Kooky Crackle Frog Happy Pants!!! Insert a Sam Kinison SCREAM..here!!!!

Location: Bloomington, MN | Any chance to have "Spell Check" as an option on posting on this site? I type poorly and too fast without much thinking, and hit the happy submit jobadoo without reviewing. I'm in the process trying to find a new "Career rewarding and challenging/Labor Camp" position, and the last thing I need is someone that might be interviewing me to remember my last post filled with run on sentences/misspelled words. I know it is not MonsterMuskieFirst.com , but this is a "Networking" web site for us Muskie guys and gals. Any help that would not potentially label us as a bunch of "Dee,Dee, Dees!" would be appreciated. As Andy Taylor, the Sheriff of Mayberry, once said, "Remember, one hand washes the other!". |
