| I currently have a Abu Garcia® Ambassadeur® D5, I find it doesn't hold my 65lb musky braid well at all, I find it binding under load. I had it in once for repair and was told it was normal.
I want to stay away from Abu Garcia after my current reel's lack of usefulness.
Therefore, I am looking for a new musky baitcaster. I want something to use with super lines and am wondering what my options are for $100 - $200.
I know Daiwa makes a couple saltwater conventional reels made for super lines, but has anyone used these for musky?
I will be mostly tossing large stick baits and top waters.
Are there any other recommendations?
Thanks |

| If you don't mind a heavier reel, the 7000IHSN is tough to beat. Kdawg |

| Thanks for the posts, but no one with any experience with using saltwater bait casters for musky? Or even any large fresh water fish?
Thanks |

Location: midwest | The Daiwa Luna and Calcutta 400B both are very capable reels for saltwater applications. They are both slightly above your 200$ price limit (by 20-40$) but they both have saltwater approved parts and will hold up well if taken care of. I fish with several people who have used the calcuttas for tarpon. |

Do you think it would be better to go with one of those over something like the Daiwa Saltist? |

| Today I bought the Daiwa Luna 300. I hope I have good luck with it. |
