That's because 70% of fishermen fish with small baits.

I wasn't trying to feed the controversy, if there was any; I just thought the video was pretty slick. I also found it interesting that the bass floated up on its side, almost lifeless, and the beast nailed it again.

Musky and pike are perfect predators.

The video isn't mine and it wasn't made by me or anyone I know. It was referred to me by another guy who was surfing the net and found it.

Jed, I like that part too.

It's interesting too to see how the fish hits the bait.........he hits it dead center....something to think about when choosing hook placement.

Wow! What is that maybe a 2-3 lb. bass? I'd hate to have to clean that tank!

That's because 70% of fishermen fish with small baits.

"The bass guys catch more muskies than the muskie fisherman"

Hmm, I wonder why...they out number them. Now ask a single muskie fisherman how many muskie they have caught in a year...then ask a single bass guy.

Cool video!

Cool video man, thanks for sharing...

and in regard to the controversy big muskies eat really big fish, really small fish, and everyother fish inbetween. If it will fit in there mouth they can eat it.

Typically though when tackling something that big weather it be a fish or a lure it was the distressed action of the prey that elicited the strike. That Bass would probably been safe it hadn't been hooked.

We had a 50 inch plus Muskie eat a 29 inch Pike off of our anchor rope a couple years back. We were fishing in our jon boat on a small musky lake in central Michigan when my wife caught a 29 inch pike. We kept it to eat but with no live well we used the rear anchor rope for a stringer. and let the pike trail a couple of feet behind the boat. The musky came up from under it and grabbed it behind the head blowing one of its eyes out. We almost got it in the net but the Musky let go. The big girl kind of stalked us for over an hour . She wanted that pike!!!. It one of the coolest things we have ever seen while Musky fishing. Pike and Muskies can and will often eat other fish that are 1/3 to 2/3 their own length. This happen with long skinny fish like other esox or Suckers and lake trout quite alot. I draw the line at 15/16 inches in my boat as it gets harder to get good hook ups with longer lures. I buils a nice 21 inch Deepthreat and there have been several fish caught on them by Clients of mine. No world record yet ha ha ha . Kingfisher

i chuckle. ask a guide thats been there for a while. most will not run baits over 10 inches. most targeted muskies including slobs are caught on baits under 10inches. its great to see the occasional big one deranged and attack big stuff.

I don't think most of the larger fish are caught on smaller baits. How about ALL those huge fish caught on double 10's. Lets not forget about Bulldawgs

The big Dawgs and double 10 bucktails are kind of new on the scene, I'd say.

That vid is great. I agree with the best part being when he comes back and hits him again. Glad they had a camera.
