I would like to take the time to ask everyone to say a prayer for Crash Mullins. For those of you that don't know Crash has been diognosed with a type of bone cancer. He is currently in Arkansas taking treatments. He has done a lot for the muskie fishing world so keep him in your prayers.

To All:

The cost of Crash's treatment over the next twelve months (as estimated by the Multiple Myeloma Institute where he is being treated) will be $450,000. An insurmountable tab for a man who does not have any health insurance.

Efforts to assist Crash here in Morehead have been spearheaded by the legal formation and registration of the David "Crash" Mullins Multiple Myeloma Foundation, LLC. The organization's sole objective is to raise sufficient donations to fund Crash's life-sustaining treatment. There are currently many Multiple Myeloma survivors who have gained many years of productive life based upon the stem-cell transplantation and chemotherapy regime that Crash will begin this coming Friday.

A web site will be up within the next few weeks highlighting all aspects of Crash's treatment, as well as extensive educational material and informative links about Multiple Myeloma and the Myeloma Treatment Institute at the University of Arkansas Medical Center.

Educational direct-mailings and a plea to begin Musky-related fundraising activities and events will soon be going out to Muskies, Inc. chapters nationwide.

In the meantime, donations can be made directly to: David Crash Mullins Multiple Myeloma Foundation, 66 Slaty Point Road, Morehead, KY 40351.

Many of the members of this site may already have personal acquaintance with Crash's son Justin. Justin is "one serious stick" when it comes to Musky fishing, and is vice-chair of the foundation. He can be reached directly at 606-776-2116.

When Crash and his wonderful wife Gina left on Sunday for Little Rock (where they will stay for the next 3 to 6 weeks during his initial phase of treatment), his spirits were undaunted. He feels confident that he can undergo the rigors of his treatment regime and continue to fulfill his destiny, with many more of life's mountains yet to climb.

Crash is a man of great faith. He is strong, my friend, and one tough customer.

Craig

I don't know Crash nearly as good as many of you all do; but from what I do know of him, he's a great man. My only experience with him shows how good of a guy he really is. This spring myself and two buddies decided to spend our spring break down south, not south where most college students go, but in Kentucky chasing muskies on Cave Run. Our trip started off with a truck breakdown which caused us to lose a whole day of fishing on an already short trip and we finally got to Kentucky a little after nine, bought our licenses in town and headed for the campsite not knowing where we could get camping/parking permits for where we were staying on the lake. We see Crash's Landing on the side of the road and I knew they closed at eight from an earlier call I had made. It was well after 10, but we thought we'd stop by and see what time they opened in the morning. After looking at the hours and walking back to the truck, we hear the door open and a distinct southern voice saying "Hey boys, what can I help you with?". We went on to tell him our plans of camping which he said only us Wisconsin guys would go camping in weather where snow was predicted and told us to come on in. After explaining how the whole camping permits worked and selling us what we needed, I thought I would ask a question hoping for a little advice maybe. What followed was a 45-minute talk with one of, if not the most, experienced musky fisherman on the waters we were going to be fishing the next three days. Imagine going to any lake and getting an hour open-discussion with a top guide on that lake before you went out fishing and not having the guide expecting anything as far as money or anything else, but only saying that you better listen to him to catch muskies.
That right there is priceless, and shows anyone who hasn't been able to meet Crash how great of a guy he is. The three of us walked back to the truck amazed at how much help we had just receieved (being our first time down there) and we decided Crash was as nice, honest and helpful as any fisherman, or man for that matter comes. Our time with him was instructional, entertaining and really showed us what fishing is all about....having lots of fun with friends and getting to meet fellow fishermen. We still use the phrase "Son, I tell you what..." everytime out on the boat now. For those of you who know Crash, I'm sure you'll know exactly what I mean....for those of you that don't, click on this and make sure you have sound: http://www.driftertackle.com/video/videoCrash.html
We caught one fat 40" musky during our two and a half days fishing down there, but I think all of us would agree that without a doubt, the highlight of our trip was meeting Crash and his kindness and willingness to help out three Wisconsin boys on catching some fish down south. If you ever read this Crash, thanks so much!!!
I will keep Crash and the family in my prayers and will let my two friends know as well. We'll be out on the water tonight, so I'll make sure to give Crash a thought while out there tonight. Hopefully, someone will be willing to put together an auction of some sort to raise some funds as that has been successful in the past on here. I believe the moderators and Mr. Worrall are more than welcome to a benefit auction for Crash; correct me if I'm wrong guys...I don't want to speak for you.
Prayers and thoughts to Crash and family.

Crash will be in our thoughts as he fights his disease.

First met Crash getting our license for the inaugural MF Cave Run outing. His advise was to fish the sidewalks, as they will be warmer. It paid off when Landy's boy caught a 34, and took the big fish pot. Great guy, and he will pull through this.

HI Guys

First of all I would like to thank everyone on my dad's behalf for all the kind and thoughtful comments. This is tough deal for Crash and our family. I wanted to update everyone on his treatments. He started a big chemo dose yesterday so hopefully with him being in good shape this should not put him down to bad. Middle of next week they are starting another go of this again. The University of Arkansas is the best place in the country which is where he is. This place seems to have some things with this type of cancer under control and with my dad's faith and his HARD HEAD no doubt he will come out of this.

We are starting a national foundation nonprofit to help my father and once we get him fixed of all of this we are going to help other people with Multiple Myeloma also. Guys you never know 10 years down the road yourself or someone you love more than anything in world like I do father might need assistance with this. This is a very serious deal and I'm asking for everyone to help. Soon we will be contacting all the Muskie Inc chapters and working with them for fundraisers to help this foundation. We will have a website up very soon along with the foundation. We will have an ad in Musky Hunter in the next issue so make sure you watch for that.

Guys I could go on and on about my father on what he has done for this business over the last 25 years but if you have musky fished longer than 2 days you already know what a pioneer, speaker, fisherman, upstanding person, and last but not least what a great father this guy is. The bottom line is he really needs the help of everyone.

For people who wants to send donations to this foundation here is the info..

Crash Mullins Multiple Myeloma Foundation
66 Slaty Point Road
Morehead, Ky. 40351

Again guys thank you so much for all the kind words Crash has been viewing this board and it means alot to him to see all of this.

Talked to Crash this evening, today makes the third day of treatments. All seems to be well so far. He said that he would like to thank everyone for there thoughts, and prayers, And to keep him in your thoughts, and prayers. Guys Crash is a close friend of mine and we need to really rally behind him and help him through this with future fundraisers that will help him with the expensive medical costs he will have during the duration of this.

I'm sure Justin and Craig have things in the making. I'll be keeping in touch with these guys and let everyone know what is to come as I find out myself. I personally would like to thank everyone and the response that is going toward crash keep it going he really needs us all.

My brother and I were over at the Cave in late May. Stopped in to Crash's Landing as we always do. Got to spend time talking to Crash. It's amazing how he can have a store full of customers but somehow make each and every one feel like he's spent plenty of quality time with them. On one of our three stops in the store over the weekend two local fisherman who appeared to be close with Crash were wishing him well with the "situation" and conveying their prayers for him. My brother and I knew something was up but didn't want to ask as it wasn't our business. Then I come accross this thread. I was floored. Crash, to me, is one of the most down to earth "celebrities" you'll ever come across. I hate that this crisis has knocked on the door of Crash and his family. When I told my wife about it and how Justin had set up the foundation and all, she supported my decision to help out any way I can, just as so many others undoubtedly will.

My family will certainly have the Mullins family in our prayers. God bless.

I just happened to look at the Cave Run website for the first time in a while. The news of Crash's illness took my breath away. My daughter and I met him this spring when we fished the Cave. He is a warm, friendly and humorous human being based upon our brief encounters with him both off and on the water. I wish nothing but the best of luck with his treatment and will remember him in our prayers. I know he won't give in the his disease, there's too many more lure to be thrown and muskies to be caught.

We are coming back to fish in October and hope to see his smiling face behind the counter at the store.

Crash we are the investigators out of Columbus Ohio( the glasses with the camera in them), hey buddie you hang in there. You have touched so many people by fishing and yet there is so many more to be touched. I will be praying for you and your family. When you get better we will be coming back to go fishing with you. We had a great time. It has been probably 10 years yet i can remember it like it was yesterday. Thank you for the memories and AGAIN YOU HANG IN THERE. Hey Crash! Stay Strong! A positive mind set is your best companion! You can beat this, with your faith in God, and the power of positive thinking, you can get through anything. It might sound a bit trivial, but just think about "The Little Engine That Could", that story has proved itself true time and time again. Though you won't remember me, my Dad and I went out on a trip with one of your guides, Captain Ron. The morning of our trip we spoke to your son, and he told us you were going in for tests for cancer, and he was so obviously upset by it. It made me look at the relationship between me and my Dad, and thank God that we are so close. If I were in your son's shoes at the time, I don't know if could have held my composure as well as he did. He was just so genuinely concerned for you, that it made me thank God for the health of my Dad. My Dad and I spoke briefly on the situation, and before we knew it, it was time to head out Muskie fishing with cpt. Ron. Though we didn't catch anything that day, I took your situation to heart, and enjoyed every moment of that day just being with my Dad.
Suprisingly to us, you were there at the bait shop either that day or the next day. When my father and I spoke to you, you were just such a down to earth man, and so congenial. If we didn't know the background story, we'd have never known you were just in for treatments. You're genuine love for fishing and giving people a second to none fishing experience just spoke volumes for your character. And even though my Dad and I never even got a single bite on our trip, I'm sure we'll return. If nothing else, my Dad and I shared 3 days of uninterrupted time together. A time that I will remember forever, and that someday, I'll look back upon, and thank God that we were able to experience it together.
Crash, I wish you all the best! If you stay strong you can beat this!!! If you don't do it for yourself, do it for your son. I know that my Dad and I are tag-team partners, and without one the other is nothing. There is nothing like the Father-Son bond, and I can see that what you and your son have is the same as what Me and my Dad have.
So, thanks for a great trip, and above and beyond all else, stay positive!!! Beat this cancer like you beat the water with a shallow invader!

Lots of Love,
Felice DiPietrantonio III

I am very proud to say Crash Mullins is very good friend. I have known of him most of my life. When our friendship started to grow was in Madison WI at a PMTT event. This was only the 2nd tournament I ever fished. The first was of course Cave Run. What he did that impressed me was nothing huge. It was little things. Crash knew I was a local to Cave Run Lake. He also knew this was my first PMTT out of town. The man checked on me like a big brother. Im not saying just once or twice. At least 20 times throughout the weekend. At one point I was thinking he was hired to be a Private Eye. In a short time I realized. Crash was just being Crash. I have seen him do that very same thing for several other people. Even more impressing is seeing him witness his faith in GOD.

The DCMMMF is a very good thing. The month of September is a very crucial one for Crash. We need to actually double the money that the DCMMMF has raised just for the month of September. If anybody has any ideas call the Foundation or you can call me and I will pass it on.

Thanks,

Crash & I are so very grateful to all of you! Crash is doing so well! His Dr's. in Arkansas are sure that he will be in Full Remission by the end of all his treatments! What a Blessing........I just couldn't imagine life without him!

Just a heads up here.......we have our message board operational again and he would love for you to send more messages. When we are in Little Rock at the hotel, there is not a lot to do between lab work and chemo and he loves to see who's written to him..........keeps him in a 'less grouchy mood' for me -ha,ha!

Love to all and a big Thank you!

Guys, it's this simple

450000 is needed for his treatment
20 bux a head

thats 22500 people.

we can do this. all differences aside, it NEEDS to be done, and CAN be done.

thoughts and prayers are great....in this case, IMHO a few bux is helpful too.

Just got this from a friend:
Mikie, Just got back from Dixie Marine's open house. Crash was a speaker and he looks great and says he feels like his cancer is gone!!!!! He's thinking about giving up guiding and just be a tv star muskie fishing. Sounds good to me, it was good to see him doing so well.

glad it's working, m

You are right, we can do this. $20.00 * 22,500 will git-R-Done. But......$50.00 * 9000 will get there quicker. Folks lets all send $50.00 and get this done now. I even going to send an extra 50 for the guy who forgets. Some of us may be in the same boat some day, I hope not but you never no.

Dewey

Crash,
Love and Prayers are with you guys and hope to see you soon.

I have known Crash, Gina and Justin for many years, and they have ALWAYS treated me like family. Crash is a great fisherman, and more importantly, a great friend, and I urge all of you who can assist him in this time of need to please do so. Please have the Mullins family in your prayers and let's all hope that Crash has a full recovery! After all, he needs to get home soon, as that October bite is rapidly approaching!!! I will be stopping down there to the Cave after the PMTT Championship (see you in Madison, Justin!) and catching up with y'all!

Our prayers go out to you, Crash. You are a great friend.

Sincerely,

Tom & Kris Dietz
