Steckel & Machtan Win WMT's Phillips Cain Tourney

There were nine muskies registered at the WMT's Phillips Chain tournament Saturday, June 2nd. Jim Mergen and Bruce Ruberg were the first team to score on a muskie of 39 inches at 6:27am. The largest muskie would be tallied at 6:55am by the team of Pat Beidel and Josh Strama that measured 46 inches. John Steckel and Randy Machtan would be the only team to double up for the contest with muskies of 42 1/4" at 6:50am and 39 inches at 10:18am for the victory. Steve Bogdanovic and Dan Rahmer would tally a 43" muskie at 12:48pm and Chad Briesemeister and John Bittorf would score on the last muskie of the tourney at 12:58pm with a 42 incher. Other anglers to score for the day were Marty Moser and Tony Warkoczewski with a 36 3/4" at 6:50am, Jeff Brillhart and Robert Brillhart at 7:12am with a 37 1/4 incher and Marcus Malyuk and Ben Bain with a 36 3/4 inch muskie at 7:37am.

The WMT's Phillips Chain tournament paid down five places:
1st - John Machtan/Randy Machtan
2nd - Josh Strama/Pat Biedel
3rd - Steve Bogdanovic/Dan Rahmer
4th - Chad Briesemeister/John Bittorf
5th - Jim Mergen/Bruce Ruberg

Emmerich and Kastner Captures First at Butternut Lake

There were eleven muskies registered at the WMT's Butternut Lake tournament Sunday, June 3rd. George and Patrick Kingsland tallied the first muskie of the day at 6:59am with a 42 3/4 incher and were the first team to double up at 8:35am and a 34 1/4" muskie. Brian Kastner and Brian Emmerich would also score on two at 11:06am with a 37" muskie to go along with their first legal of 40 1/2 inches at 7:25am. The team of Mike and Dan Wojtusik registered a 42 1/2" beauty at 11:39am that would land the brothers a fifth place finish. At 1:38pm, the third team to double for the event would come from Neil Barnett and Bill hill when they scored on a 35 3/4" muskie to add to their earlier fish of 37 1/4 inches at 9:44am. The final muskie of the day, and incidentally, the largest fish was tallied by Andy and Jerry Huffmaster at 4:00pm and was a 44 3/4" lunker.

Other teams to score fish on the day were: Lance and Cindy Hemauer with a 36 1/4" at 7:49am, Dawson Usack and Ken Mack with a 39 3/4" at 10:28am, Marty Moser and Tony Warkowczewski with a 41 1/2" at 1:11pm.

The WMT's Butternut Lake tournament paid down five places:

Subject: Pike/Round Lake & Squirrel Lake Tourneys Still Open


This weekend's WMT tournaments on the Pike/Round Lake Chain, Saturday June 9th and on Squirrel Lake Sunday June 10th still have some open spots. If you are interested in fishing the Pike/Round Lake tournament you can sign up for the event on Friday, June 8th at Moose Jaw Resort on the west side of Round Lake between the hours of 5:00pm and 7:30pm. If you are interested in fishing the Squirrel Lake tourney you can sign up for the event on Saturday, June 9th at the Moose Jaw Resort also between the hours of 6:00pm and 7:30pm. The WMT tournaments are open to the public and you can fish one event or as many as you like.
