| We are going to be up there this sunday and monday. I wil have 3 young muskie hunters in my boat. Does anyone have suggestions on where to fish to raise the odds of success for the kids. I have had some success there but not enough to be confident in putting the kids on fish. Tips and ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks Terry |

| Although I have not fished it in a while, it's still one of my favorites. I look at the holcombe as a mini Chippewa Flowage. With only two days to fish and nearly 4000 acres of water, at this time of year, I would concentrate in the north-east corner where the jump river flows in. Not alot of weeds but PLENTY of stumps. With the youngsters aboard, I would suggest throwing the smaller Mepps Marabous in Hot colors. Sure, they will snag up, but I think it will be your best chance. Kdawg |

Location: Medford, WI | Terry, listed to what kdawg mentioned...fish where the river/s run in. Fish will definitely be in there this time of year as well as all year. Throw colorful 'tails and suicks and don't be afraid to throw topwater...my fishing partner saw the biggest fish he's seen on a TopRaider out there this coming weekend last year.
I really need to fish the flowage more as my grandma and grandpa live in a bay on the lake and it's a great fishery.
Good luck; let us know how you do.

Location: Hayward, WI | Tile Guy, just wondering how you did. I fished Holcombe yesterday for the 3rd time ever. Caught 3 muskies but nothing big. Two 31's and a 32 inch fish. The 32 and one of the 31 were little tanks though! Really fat little guys. Also had one follow from a 33-35 inch fish.
All of them came on a Rad Dog in weeds. Every fish was on a point or "end" of a weedline in about 4 feet of water. Two of the fish and the one follow were all on the same weed point within about 20 yards and 20 minutes at around 4:00 PM.
I hear the lake has big fish potential. Hopefully they show up!

| Thanks for the advice guys. We tried the Jump and the stump field flats after that but with no action. The weeds seemed to be ahead of schedule and we moved several fish coming out of weeds in the shallows but close to deep water. Of four follows I had, the kids with me all had at least one hit each from those fish, all on top water. A 33 and a 28 were the only two from our group. We were able to get off the water on Monday night about 30 minutes before that big storm came through. There was 2 1/2 to 3 foot waves on the lake during that storm. A guy from Eau Claire was putting in a Ranger when we were getting off, I hope he found a safe spot during the storm. Thanks again guys, Terry |
