I am looking to get a used boat in the next few months. Looking for something about 18 foot. I go muskie and pike fishing 90% of the time. When fishing for muskie I go on water less than 1000 acres more than half of the time (mostly 500 acres an less). I need help deciding on a boat type (fiberglass bass type, or an aluminum multi species, etc...) and would like to hear what others have tried and disliked or liked. I like the platform of a bass boat but I don't want the hull to get beat up where there are no docks, such as on small bodies of water.

Any pros or cons would be apreciated. If I narrowed it down to three types it would be an 18 foot bass boat, 18 foot aluminum multi species, or 18 foot aluminum deep v boat. What would you pick??

Depending upon your budget? What about a used Esox Magnum? I had one for several years and it was a very good stable boat to fish from. Great on smaller lakes and I even had mine on Eagle lake in Canada a few times, not the best boat for large rollers but never had any problems with 3' waves. Just my 2 cents!

I 2nd the esox mag. awesome platform for casting you will get wet on big water when its blowing, if 90 percent of the lakes you fish are around 500acres it would be hard to beat. If it is in your budget look hard for an esox deep v or deep skeeter or a ranger 618 also dont be afriad to look at the crestliner fishhawks or the alumacraft navigators or magnumns i think the lunds you pay alot for the name for what you get for the price
just my thoughts good luck on finding a boat

the lund mr. pike sounds like a boat you might want to consider too ... after reading about how you would use it.
