Location: nationwide | Is anybody out there running a Tuffy Esox Magnum with a 60HP Evinrude Etec? If so can you post a picture and give your feelings on the combination and Etec motor.
Thanks,

| i'll be seeing my buddy Justin (gordo2000) tonight and fishing with him tomorrow; i'll tell him to check this thread out and share his thoughts.
he's running a console Esox Mag with a 115 E-tec; he loves the motor and i've been in the boat going 53mph. let me assure you, that's a breath-taking speed in an E-Mag!
i'll let him share his thoughts on the E-tec, but i'm sure the tiller version would perform equally well.

Wow . . . 50+ mph in an esox mag is insane.

Location: De Pere Wisconsin | I have that exact setup. I am guessing low to mid 30's. It doesn't need to think about getting up on plane - crack the throttle and it is there. The new tiller handle is awesome and it is very effecient on fuel. I had the boat for sale here this spring and took it off the market - I could be persuaded to reconsider selling it
Would like to get into something perhaps a little cheaper as my wife and I just bought a new house and am looking at trimming some "fat".
I think Tuffy and Mercury are in "cahoots" ( I mean that nicely) so I think that may be why there are fewer of them out there? A very good combo in my opinion.

| Mine has a 125 on it and quite frankly I dont think i could put her into a hard turn at WOT, seems to want to skip to me but maybe im just being a p*#@y. I understand it may be rough, but can somethign along the lines of a 60-75 degree turn be accomplished without backing off the throttle considerably? |

yes it can.
buy a 1700 Deep-V!
the E-Mag is designed as a fishing platform, and that's what it excels at beyond any other boat in it's class. the "price" of all that stability is the somewhat less "grip" of a relatively flat bottom in hard turns. keep in mind that you are talking about a very shallow boat going very fast.
trimming down slightly before you start your turn should help.

| Thanks for the info very much appreciated! I hardly ever open it up as it makes not difference to me to get to a spot in 5 minutes or 10. Just wanted to ask in case an emergency (someone in the water ahead, upcoming reef, etc) should every arise. It is by far the best fishign platform I have ever been on! |

| The e-tec is a great choice of outboards. I have a 115 on my Magnum, and I have no complaints. It uses very little oil when it's set to run xd-100. It is dependable, very quiet, and extremely responsive. I am sure that the other manufacturers like Mercury and Yamaha build a very good outboard as well, so it just comes down to preference. The performance from the e-tec will not disappoint you!!!

Location: N.FIB | The only bad thing I`ve heard about the etec is that the 225hp motor does not have the power that the others do for tournament fishing when you need to get to a spot now.Had a bass tournament guy tell me that when his buddys motor broke,he put an etec on it and it had less power, for the average fisherman all we care about is getting to our spots in a reasonable amount of time safely.I don`t want to go so fast on the water I have to wear a helmet like this guy and his partner were doing at the walleye tournament we were fishing in.I`m looking to get a new or slightly used boat in the next couple of years and the motor I want is an etec or a honda. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I would argue that; the 225 is a very fast motor. I se quite a few in action at the FLW and PWT events, and they seem to be strong motors. |
