I was out last weekend throwing an arsenal of different baits trying to figure out which ones I need to leave home and which ones I will continue to throw. I started throwing a few different topwaters and realized that I would like my hawg wobbler to throw more water. I am a big fan of the crawling action of the hawg wobbler but is there a modification you can do to get the rear blade to throw more water? Or is there a diferent bait with a similar crawling action that does?

In my opinion you were right on track. Hawg Wobblers have proven to be great spring time topwaters. I've caught fish on them down to 56 degree water. You have to have confidence in the spots you fish since you are not going to cover a lot of water. The sound and crawling action are the key to the HW. If you want a subtle slow moving topwater which throws a little more spray I'd look at a flaptail. Joel Wick makes the best custom made flaptail I've seen. I've heard old timers compare it very favorably to the Snodlo. JDsplasher, here on MF, has sold some quality flaptails as well. Good luck.

Not rear blade baits but Hawgseekers Boss Hawg and Lee Lures TOPH20 move a ton of water. Both have flap tails with a similar action and equally obnoxious noise as the HW.

Try a TopH2O. Just a bit bigger and has a Colorado blade on the back.

Try a Hawgseeker Boss Hawg. It has a flap tail that will pitch water 3-4 inches beside the bait, and still has the wood-banging on wood effect the Wobbler is known for. m
