Just wondering if anybody has tried these and if they are better than the regular ball bearing swivel. The spro have a much more streamlined design.

I haven't used them on leaders yet, but they make an awesome hook hanger post for some wood topwaters and jerkbaits with through wire construction. Steve

I know Mike Phelps uses them, mostly. But I have the same problem as him, when i'm not paying attention i tend to reel the swivel in the first or second eyelet. Other than that, i've haven't had a problem with them.

Thanks guys! That was one thing I thought of also, they may be too streamline and I could see reeling them into the guides. Glad to hear of no failure issues

In my limited experience with them, they dont spin as freely as your standard ball bearing swivel

I gotta agree w/ BALDY on this one. I get more line twist with them than a 'conventional' ball bearing swivel. Also, I tried making a few fluoro leaders with them, but was uncomfortable with the knots - when I cinched them down, the edge of the swivel surface bearing on the line had me nervous. I dismantled them and re-tied w/ conventional swivels.

I do run the Spro heavy swivels, but I also run them with the Spro ball bearing swivel with coast lock on the business end. Probably why I haven't noticed a problem.

thanks guys, I was wondering if they might work better for bucktails, than the ball bearing. I think I will stick with the ball bearing.

I build my heavy leaders for my lift-off rigs with these swivels. It is a confidence thing to be able to lean back and bury the hooks. Have not tried them for casting purposes.
