| Hi I am in the process of making my own fluorocarbon leaders. What length should I make them at for certain type of baits example buck tails 12" or crank baits 18" or trolling 24" I purchased Seaguar #80 also should use there knots the recommend or is there anything better and how long do they last it seems like it would wear out at the swivel ????? I also read the article and it show to wrap it twice and then tie knot if I remember right Seaguar recommended to wrap 5 times ....................

| I use a uniknot when I premake my leaders. Use a board with finish nails to stretch the leader to set the knots. When in the boat, I just tie a clinch knot. I've had not issues this way.
I use long 3-4' leaders for trolling. 12-18" is good for bucktails, crankbaits, and topwater. I don't use flouro for jerk and glide baits. | |
