Carlo emailed me this morning with pictures of his second 50+ lb. pike this season. This one is slightly smaller at 48"x29.5" and weighed 53 lbs. He caught it on Lake Maggiore, Italy on a small Ernie trolled at about 48 feet. This guy is on fire!

Unreal man, wish Canadian pike got as big as those European ones. Oh-well. Hey isn't the world record (recognized by the freshwater fishing hall of fame) like 49 lbs or something. How come non of these huge fish caught overseas are getting recognized?

The IFGA rules are based on having tackle that will definitely break at a certain point. Most pike anglers, like musky anglers want tackle that definitely won't break at any point, so the IFGA is a bit of an anathema to most modern catch and release anglers!
