| So I bought a 4" Walleye fingerling at a local pet store, and a little bass, too. The bass can and has eaten a crappie minnow, but I don't think the walleye can, so I'm wondering if anybody else has ever fed one this small. I'm thinking about maybe some freshwater shrimp or something. I'm also anxiously awaiting the arrival of a musky or two. The pet shop should be getting them in soon. It's really interesting just watching these little guys. |

Location: The desert | I would bet they would eat goldfish flakes. You could also try small guppies. I would imagine they would eat both of those. |

Location: Wisconsin | I have raised numerous native fish in a tank. I always feed mine guppie minnows or goldfish from the pet store. I started out with a hundred guppies then moved the fish into goldfish. My Muskie would cut open the bag if you put it in the tank. |

| Try guppies if that doesn't work brine shrimp or live black worms your pet store should be able to get them for you . good luck Tom |

I would think a # 5 shallow diving Orange Rapala would be tasty.

Location: Long Prairie, Minnesota | I was wondering how big of a tank you have for these fish? I was thinking about getting a tank and possibly raising a couple of muskies. Do they need a really large tank complete with weeds, wood and structure? Thanks for any advice you can throw me! |

Location: Hastings, mn, 55033 | If you have the bass and the walleye in the same tank you probably wont need to worry about feeding the walleye for very long. Of anyone I know that has tried keeping other fish in with bass the bass always end up as the last ones swimming. |

| The walleye didn't make it, never ate. Going to get a new one tonight and some smaller food for him, too. Disappointing, the pet shop guy thought he'd have no problem with crappie minnows.
I don't know about the bass eating the walleye. It's only about three inches long right now, and hopefully it doesn't grow too much faster than the walleye. I would hope a bass couldn't eat a fish it's own size. But then again, I've caught 10" bass on a 10" Jake, and on Magnum Stompers. The true test will be once the muskies are introduced. Can't wait to watch them feed. |

| I've got a bass and 2 small gills, I feed them euro larvae. I would think the walleye would eat those as well. |

I have had numerous Native freshwater fish growing up, and mark my words the bass will end up eating everything. I had at one time a 6" largemouth that ate my 5" Pike. I couldnt believe it. The best freshwater fish i have raised however are Smallmouth Bass. They just kill the crawfish and rosies! |

| Everything else but lgm bass get along pretty well, if they can't eat it they will beat on it until it's dead. I have six muskies and two walleyes in my tank right now. biggest muskie is probly a foot long and the walleyes are almost getting to filetable size ;). They are fun to have though. The muskies are starting to outgrow the tank now so I'll have to find an extra special watery area for them pretty soon. |

| I have raised muskies for the last 3 years last year I released over 100 over 12 " and some 16" . The biggest problem I ran into was the fish would get scared and run into the glass and into the pond walls . They would die in most cases and others ended up with broken beaks . This really happens when they get bigger 8" to 10" range . A friend at the local pet store told me to put big koi or other tropical with them and it will help . I am raising them this year in one of those new kids pools that you inflate the top I will let you know how it goes . They also will eat each other when feeding so wacth . When you drop minnows in the bigger ones wait till the smaller ones eat and eat them . I have had a few choke to death on each other . Tom |

| The muskies are definitely the ones to worry about eating everything. I've lost a few four inch bass and a couple five inch walleyes to my then eight inch muskies, and quite a few three inch bluegills. I always start with small feeder guppies and shrimp and then fed them rosie reds and gold fish. The smaller game fish were okay with the muskies as long as there was a regular supply of feeders, but if they went more than a few days without a easy meal then they'd make do with whatever else was in their strike zone. The walleyes seemed to be alot more susceptible to Ich and other viruses. No where near as hearty as the Bass and Muskies, in my experience at least.
