Hey guys and girls this subject may have been gone over on here before but I need a fix. I have a Garmin 160 and a universal sonar on my Minn Kota Auto pilot the trolling motor is new to me but is 2 years old and the locator was on the boat and never hooked up since I bought it used last year. The problem is that the depth flashes non-stop I can not get an accurate depth out of it. I have turned it off and tried to restart it is this a tuning issue? Any help would be great Thanks in advance.

Shane,

I'm sure you have this right but do you have the correct connecting wire for the Garmin unit? That would be something I would double check, otherwise, its a transducer problem from what it sounds like. I know this may sound stupid but, is the transducer fully sumerged when you turn the unit on? Don't turn the unit on until you have the trolling motor down and in the water. Otherwise, I would say it's definitely in the transducer if it's flashing on the graph, means it's not getting a good reading, that's why I ask about having the correct wire for the Garmin unit, you know the one that costs about $20. But if nothing changes, you might take it to Chuck Brod and have him take a look.
