Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | It was another great tourney run by Todd. The fish cooperated for some, not for me. We had four lazy follows all weekend. We were obviously on good water, we ran into the Schillingers many times, just wasn't our weekend.
If anyone is looking for an early season tourney to get into, this should be high on the list. You would not believe the prizes and raffles at this thing. Todd treats his sponsors very well, and they in turn supply him with a beautiful array of prizes. The coolest thing, all of the proceeds go back into the musky fishery!
Congrats to the Schillingers and the rest of the field that boated fish. Maybe next year for me! |

| Congrats to Jason and his Dad!
Todd works very hard on this tourney. I spent some quality time with him this spring, and saw him in action. Very good support from his sponsors.
I'd like to fish this in the future, if I could get the MWS to reschedule. Looks like a fun tourney to be part of. |

Location: Northern Illinois | Tourny was a lot of fun. Saw two fish yesterday, hooked one and got away. Anyways thanks to all for a good weekend. The only thing is Tforcier talks about his sponsors way to much at the raffle. He could raise more money if he pitched his sponsors by saying he'll mention their name if they donate at least $500; otherwise they will be in the material given out. By him talking in depth about each sponsor wasted a good hour or so if felt like; not to mention by the time he was done talking everyone was ready to leave. Everyone there already knows the majority of the products being mentioned and if they don't , then they should get a clue.
All in all .... thanks to everyone for putting on a great time. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | I'm with Norm- It's a fun, well run tournament, and I will be back next year. Todd & his team do an outstanding job. I know it's a lot of hard work, but it also reflects their dedication to the resource.
Many of the sponsor's also fish this tournament. As one of the sponsor's of this tournament, I was sitting with another team and one of the other sponsor's and based on the comments at our table, I know ZaltNAD and the other sponsors greatly appreciate the fact that Todd took the time to acknowledge the sponsor support for the tournament.
The Petenwell Muskie Challenge is just that a "challenge". It's really big water, lot's of wood/stump fields, lot's of sharp breaks, a nice river section and a really big flowage section. If the wind is blowing on the main flowage it's pretty sporty! If you haven't fished the Pete check out the new Lakemaster map. It will definitely show you what you're up against. There are some real monsters in there. I'm surprised she didn't give up a +50" this year. 76 boat's, 152 fisherman- 9 fish. The Pete can be stingy! Altough she wasn't as stingy as last year. A 45.5" post cold front fish on Sunday AM is not to bad. I had 2 sub 30" fish on in the first 10 minutes of fishing Sunday morning. It really got my adrenaline up! We saw legal fish both days.
Yes- those that know Jason know he's a tough competitor on his home waters, or any water for that matter. Congrat's to Jason & his dad on a fine win! It was nice to see his wife & daughter at the awards. His daughter is definitely a cutie and "Grandpa's girl".
Also congrat's to Al Subera (hope I spelled it right) & Brian Smith for their 45.5" big fish on Sunday, and to all the other winners.
Have fun!
Al

Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | Todd is able to get these donations and stay in great standing with his sponsors because he talks about them. If he had the attitude talked about above he would have about 1/4 of the prizes he has.
I know as one that donates, I am happy that he mentions my Guide Service even though it was only a $200 dollar donation. I would do it even if he did not individually mention me, because this is great for the fishery. The fact that he takes the time to mention smaller donations like my own means he will definetly get one again next year.
I apologize that you had to sit through him thanking those that donated. |

Location: Neenah, WI | I have thought about this tournament alot over the last day, this being my third year in the tournament. I have always had a great time fishing with my partner and seeing my musky buds at this tournament. While discussing the banquet with my friends on Saturday evening. I reevaluated my perspective. I look at this tournament as one of the best tournaments I have had the privilidge to fish in. I also would like to mention that the proceeds go back to the resource which I think speaks leaps and bounds about the people running this tournament .
The Petenwell Musky Challenge is a first class tournament and Should be one the other organizations should mirror if they want a successful tournament. (Fun and Challenging)
T Forcier and his group are first class.( I wish I knew all there names)
Thanks again and I will see you again next year,

| You should donate because you want to, not so you can hear your named called at a banquet. My buddy and I donated as well, it doesn't mean I need to hear my name called. It is also a tax write off.
Dont get me wrong I think the tourny is great and that Todd does an amazing job at hosting the whole gig. I plan on returning as well, all I was saying is that he could get through the sponsorships a little quicker if he only mentioned the ones that donate a little more and went on to say the rest of our great sponsors you'll find within the packet you recieved.
If he wants to name them all so be it, at the end of the day you'll donate your $200 and feel good about it either way.
Good fishing to you!! |

Location: Wis. Rapids, WI | There’s a lot that happens behind the scene that you guys don’t know about. Let’s talk about the sponsors; some guys are complaining about me always promoting them. That’s a request I get from them, so if I talk about one why not mention all them. I have yet to have a company complain about too much promotion. Remember…with out them we’d have nothing. Like it or not it’s what I do and will continue to do.

| another outstanding PMC is in the books!
my partner and i continued our long-standing trend of contacting but not netting fish; we're good at that so we stick to it.
however, we did catch our fair share of stumps and trees, just like everyone else...
Todd put on his usual great event, to include substantially improving the banquet facilities this year which also allowed for an increase in the number of boats he could accomodate. first class event all around.
i'll happily sit through the sponsorship listing. yes, it gets a bit long, but that's because there's so many great sponsors donating to this event. (to include a prize donation by MuskieFirst and WalleyeFirst!)
to me, this tournament is ALL about the camaraderie. i've fished a number of tournaments, but Todd's event on the Pete is always the friendliest and most enjoyable. thanks to Todd for setting a tone that emphasizes fun and giving back to the resource while still maintaining integrity of competition.
Reef Hawg does it again!
the man is a magician with those river fish. good work, Jason, it's well-deserved.

Location: Northern IL | About a month ago I read a post here referring to the contest at Petenwell, my 1st thought was my product and Petenwell is a perfect match!
Although my donation was very late term and probably the least in terms of dollar amount, very surprisingly Todd has been move than appreciative! I just want to thank him and say I look forward to meeting him soon and I will happily donate again next season!

Location: north central wisconsin | First off, what a privelege to be able to fish such a great event. Dad and I would not miss it for anything. I was just commenting to dad that Todds' sponsorship goes so far, that his raffles rival the best D.U. banquets. I cannot beleive the prizes that are given away at this event. His giving of thanks, is surely, one of the reasons that the sponsors give so much. He really rolls the carpet for them.
And... that is just the fun part of the tourney(raffles, dinner, banquet etc.). Then comes the other part(fishing). It is already known that no other tournament even touches Todds raffles and banquet. But, the fishing aspect is so well run that even some of the tourneys on the proffessional level that I've fished, pale in comparison regarding parameters, rule clarification, and general organization. Really a class act, and one that is widely recognized as top tier.
Regarding winning the tournament, I appreciate the kind words, but there were far better(local and non) sticks than us two maroons out there plying the waters this past weekend. I know of several people losing nice fish(including one of my friends who lost what would have been Saturdays big fish). Being the first time on Pete(Musky fishing) since last November, dad and I really didn't have a game plan, other than knowing it was a bit later season/weather-wise than the few years prior. While the fish I caught was a scenario we'd played out before there(barring the lure/fish getting stuck to the outside of the net causing some blood vessal tightening), dads fish was such a surprise that we both had to chuckle(dad had one of his dozen cookies or candy bars).
Be sure to check Todds website for official pictures and news of the event. Attached here are just a couple pics taken with my camera.
See everyone next year, where we will hopefully have some cheaper beer to go around(I vote to pay an extra $5.00 at entry to get a half barrel for Saturday night).
