I'm always messing with my lures. This time I thought of a good use (I think) for those plastic dividers which come in plano boxes. Lip implants, as you will see below, why? To see what happens. Oh ya! I also like paint over my lures.

Hope to trial them this week. Plan to bring a sharp pair of scissors, so if they are too wide at the body the softer plastic can easily be trimmed.

Awsome! I have about 50 of those from all my big plano boxes. Please post back if you get any depth and running data. I have a few "abused" Grandmas off of eBay I got cheap to repaint and would love to make some of these if they work well. You may get a wide wobble with those too. Good way to show some muskies something they have not seen.

I would thing they would lose the nice roll that they have, that makes them such a good trolling lure. Hope you didn't do it to all your Grandmas

i wish you luck on your adventure. new thoughts and designs are always a good idea. many end up in the scrap heap. but oooh the good ones.

I cant see this modification hurting anything.....especially since all the grandma's I have thrown seem to have dissolve-in-water lips anyways.....I hate grandmas!

I didn't plan this experiment very well at all. Too many variables. I can say that they dove faster and there was greater resistance. How you figure the depth probably involves geometry(which is against my religion on Sundays). The problems were two fold. Had two larger hooks on the big lips as opposed to the norm. affecting the weight. Then color was a factor when trying to interpret the action. I used a firetiger as the norm compared to the black big lips which were harder to see at the time. As for my attempt to remodel a lip, not so easy. More brittle than expected and the gorilla glue didn't hold up while trimming.
