Keith took me to a Lake X today, which we fished for crappies, gills, perch, and C&R largemouth bass. We caught over a hundred pannies with crappies up to 12" and gills to 9" ( what a blast! Yummy dinner, too) a few Pike, and over 30 LM Bass up to about 17"; most were the early to the shallows males. Talk about a tight line! BUT!!!!

We also saw a BUNCH of muskies, up to mid to upper 40" class in the shallows. If season was open up here, I'd have had an easy multiple muskie day sight fishiong with Creatures. I'm going to like this puddle...

Good for you two, a nice family outing and some nice fish to boot.

Water temps in the very shallow was 66 degrees today. Didn't see a single Muskie in the Pads. Lots of Pike and Bass there, but the 'Eyes and the Muskies were on the sand in wood if they were shallow, as in 2' to 3'. We watched a 28" or so Pike eat a bluegill, and another about 25" eat a smaller bluegill.

Steve,

Are the crappies in you're area spawning, done, or just getting started?

They were just starting on that water, and in the middle of the spawn on dark water lakes in the area. Bass are making beds, as are some gills.
