Just picked up brand new boat and trailer.

Boat deep vee 20 feet long, boat and motor about 2200 lb., trailer 5000lb. dowble axle , with surge brakes. Experienced fishtailing about 4 time on a 400 mile trip, the last one was very scary.

I noticed if I went over 75MPH especially going down hill it would do it, feels the boat is pushing my Toyata Sequoya. At 65MPH seems to be fine

I checked the trailer to make sure is level and it is, I dint check the tires but they look okay. Every thing is brand new , first trip home. I have towed other boats, not has heavy, never had a problem. Looking for suggestions

Thank You

Gino

Sounds like an axle placement in association to load problem. Also, I think most marine trailer builders recommend that max speed is 70MPH, but never had a problem with my VanGuard Trailmasters.

Yes about 30 gallons of gasoline and no other gear, the gas tank is located at abot the center of the boat. The boat is a Yar-Craft 2095BT, the trailer is a Prestige tandem axle

Thanks Gino

my guess is boat is too big for vehicle - at those speeds. going down hill trailer is pushing car all over road. slow'er down 5-10 mph and see what happens.

Check the tire pressures with a guage, not the eyeball, and crank er down to the speed limit. Prolly is too much boat for the tow vehicle, dowuble check your Toyota owners manual. m

I want to thank every one for helping out, Steve got it on the money needed to move the boat 4 inches forward and keep the tires inflated to 60 lb. if I want to go over 70MPH, I am going to stay at 65 MPH a lot safer. Thank you again
