give me the pro's and cons to each of these.
I know Lakemaster has more 3 foot contours....but Nav gives WAY more lakes...
Trying to decide which chip to get....

This is an on going debate on WalleyeFirst right now, but I think Stacker summed it up well if you ask me. Here is the link, take a look.

| Jonesi told me when I was buying my chips to buy the Navionics to navigate with and put the Lakemaster up front to fish with....so I did what he said..no complaints...

Navionics isn't cheap!!
Which one is better for Eagle Lake Canada! (I know, I will have to buy a separate one for that too!)

| Cory I have the Navionics Premium North Chip 06 chip....It has Eagle Lake whole lake on it west arm, vermillion bay, south, east, etc. It's only as good as the Eagle Lake fishing hot spots map, that's what is is made from, so all the unmarked reef down south/east are not on the map, don't know if lakemaster has one for eagle though hope this helps |

Location: Madtown, WI | So the prem north covers WI/MN but also has Eagle on it??
Yeah I had the hotspots map for my Garmin....I have many hotspots or trials down south there that are over or on land
But it is nice to have to get a reference...I still get turned around every once in a while there heading back to camp in the late afternoon

When you were with me on GB last fall, you were looking at Navionics. I like it because the colors are easy to read. Alot of the lakes I fish are in high detail on the nav north chip, and if you only want to buy one chip, fish mn, wi and some of canada, it is a decent deal. Now, if you are using a 'smaller' unit such as a 332 or the newer 500 series from Lowrance, you'll only be able to zoom in to 1/8 mile with the navionics chip. The larger units have a software update to allow for a closer zoom(very important for me). That is something to consider, as you'll be able to zoom in much tighter on the smaller units with the lakemaster chips. There may have been software updates for the smaller lowrance units that will allow for a closer zoom with the nav chip, and if so, will be a big help to those that have one and want to use navionics.
That said, I see a deal in Cabelas right now for lakemaster chips at $69.99. I wonder if these are the new 2007 chips, or the 2006. For that matter, can anyone tell me if the update in the navionics from 2006 to 2007 are worth trading up for, and where one can find a side by side comparison of the lakes each year model offers?

Location: Madtown, WI | Thanks J...thats helpful.
I got the Lakemaster 07 for my 500 series I ordered. By the way, HODGESMARINE.com has some of the best prices I found for GPS. 20 flat shipping 2 day. I got the lakemaster 07 for 67$...no extra shipping since I ordered the GPS!
The 28HD I got comes with a bunch of Hot spots maps and Lorance enhanced maps...what ever that means.
I might have to get the navionics for the back 28HD for Eagle though!!
Thanks guys for the info!
Cory
