Subject: Boat CD player not working?

I just installed some new speakers, as I cracked one last year.. Popped in a CD to see how they sound and my CD player only reads ERR.. Does anyone think that I can buy a CD player lense cleaner and get it to work again? Really don't want to spend another $150 - $200 on replacement parts, but I would have a hardtime living without a CD player... Let me know your thoughts.. I had someone tell me that I could remove the CD player and stick it in the oven at 100 degree and get all the moisture out?? What do you think??

If I end up buying a new CD player I would like to know your recommnedations...

Oven sounds a bit drastic to me. Do you have the book to check the troubleshooting section for reasons it would throw an err code? When I installed my CD player last year, I had an issue with a fuse on the fritz. Couple thoughts for what it's worth.

Is the CD that you placed into the CD player an actual store bought, record label produced CD? Or is it a CD that you or someone else burned/made with a compilation of songs? Did you try other CDs?

Lots of CD players have a reset button on them, kind of like rebooting a computer, it is worth a try if yours has one. It is normally a small button that you have to push with a paperclip.

I'll try to reset it, did not think of that..

I tried several different CD's, all of which were store bought...

The oven wont hurt it if you do it right. I did it to a cell phone that went for a swim. Dried it out, and it worked perfectly for a couple more years.

Keep it around 100 degrees and you will be fine
