| The Wisconsin Muskie Tour (WMT) has scheduled their one-day qualifier on Lake Pewaukee on May 19th and Lake Okauchee on Sunday, May 20th. Over the years, the Pewaukee and Okauchee tournaments have been some of the most popular stops on the WMT circuit. The Pewaukee Lake tournament of 2003 had the distinction of being the first ever WMT qualifying tournament to fill to capacity and since then, more than thirty WMT tournaments have had a full field of participants.
Pewaukee and Okauchee are two tournaments that fill up quickly because of their popularity and their tendency to produce big fish and high numbers of fish. Once again, with a full field of participants at each tournament, the pay out will be $10,000.00 to the first place team at each event. However, if a team should win both tournaments on the same weekend, 2007 is the first time the Muskie Double Header will award an extra $10,000.00 bonus to the winning team. This will bring the total earnings for the weekend to $30,000.00 for a team that reaches this pinnacle.
The headquarters for the Pewaukee Lake tournament will be at McThirstys Fish Tank and Aliotas Hideaway at Lake Okauchee. The public is welcome to attend the awards ceremony at both tournaments at 5:00pm following each event at the designated headquarters.
The first place prize money is $10,000.00 in one-day tournaments that have a field of 60 teams. The WMT is open to the public to compete in all qualifying tournaments. A team can fish one event, or as many they prefer. The cost per tournament per two-angler team is only $300.00. The WMT is a twenty-one tournament circuit, hosting tournaments on some of the worlds best muskie waters in Wisconsin. Men, women and young anglers of all skill levels have enjoyed the camaraderie and competition that the WMT has offered over the years. To enter the tournament and for more information log onto the WMTs website (www.wmtseries.com), email [email protected], or call 715-369-1394. | |
