Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | I make my own wire leaders and go with 174 pound wire, #5 Stay-Loc snaps (the only snaps I trust), and a high quality ball bearing swivel. I can't remember who makes the swivels I've got. I make my leaders at about 11" in length, give or take.

| I like the Spro Ball bearing swivels. Berkely makes good ones too, but the Spro's seem to be a bit smaller at the same breakstrength. American Hardwood Lures makes a snap called the super snap. It's tougher then nails. A bit hard to open even on purpose. I prefer to use splitrings (#7 Bucher) on the nose of all my baits for the Leader to bait connections and use Super Snaps on my sucker rigs. Eventually a snap will wear out and open on you. Hopefully it won't happen with a fish attached. | |
