| Bought 06 Honda 15 hp electric start last spring. Ran like a champ. Thanksgiving weekend changed oil, oil filter, plugs and lower lube. Ran it today trolling for trout. Ran really rough, missing at times. Used ALOT of gas. Over the winter I stored the 3.5 gal tank in an outside shed, filled 1/2 way, I never topped it off last fall. Last Friday I topped it off with new gas, with Stabil. Used Stabil all last season. I did not change fuel filter last fall. I inspected it today after I returned. Looked clean, I was able to blow thru it. I did not figure out hours I put on it last season, but I know it wasn't even 50. Any ideas?? Dumped out old gas mix tonight put it fresh with Stabil but did not return to the lake to test it. Thanks. | |

| Ran the Honda today in a barrel outside. This time I ran it with all fresh gas in it. I DID pull the plugs and look at them. Could not find the gapper. Ran smoother. While it was running I quickly put it in forward put not for long as it moved alot of water. While it was idling in nuetral I went in to call the local dealer, not the place where I bought it from. She asked if i used Stabil. Yes. She thought there might be dirt in the carb. If they worked on it and found dirt, that would not be under warranty. Ouch, She said there was nothing else I could add to the fuel. She said it could blow through. She owns this place. She also sold me the wrong plugs last fall. I wanted to talk to a mechanic today, but either they weren't there or available. Her husband would have been nice to talk too, but sounded like he was not avail either. Any more suggestions, like on the carb possibility. She said to pour some gas into a container to see if there is separation, or water in it. | |

Location: Athens, Ohio | I'd say not having the right plugs in it is a good start to finding the cause. m

| Let me say that those plugs had a different thread length and I caught it before I installed them. | |

| Could having a half filled tank over the winter cause condensation inside the tank? Wouldn't Stabil take care of moisture? I have seen Seafoam mentioned in the past? Is it strict;y for 2 strokes? What does it do? Thanks again. | |

Location: Athens, Ohio | 1. yes
2. NO! it's only a stabilizer.
3. Dunno, but there are a number of marine grade fuel dewatering fluids on the market, including Mercury's. If you do think it's the fuel, empty the tank into an approved container. Take a half a pint of rubbing alcohol and swish it around in the fuel tank, and properly dispose of the residual. It will absorb water in the tank. Then, add fresh fuel and see what happens, I guess. m

| Seems I got me one of those rare 'adjustable insulator tip' Denso plugs that Honda makes. Makes a cute rattling sound when u shake it. Evens moves enought to hide the electrode tip. Wonder if this might affect the performance a tad.......... | |
