They are silicone skirts and flashabou...These haven't been thrown yet...I would be surprised if there was a problem with silicone, mylar, and water. Anyone else know if there is a problem using them together...I'll wet one down tonight and let it dry to see...

Location: Bloomington, Illinois | Ok...I just soaked one in the kitchen sink for a while...I can't see it being a problem...I shook it out and it holds very little water...Nothing there to absorb any...I'm ready to get them wet with lake water I'll look at it in the morning to see if there is any sticking...I guess the real proof will be use through the season...Even in the sink the combination looks great in the water...LOL

Location: Mayer, MN | sound good, thanks for the update. Hey muskyme if you don't mind where do you get you lure components? I am kind of skipping around the internet buying components here and there but it would be nice to know exactly where I could find certain things.
Thanks

Location: Minnesota | Here is one of mine in construction. Still figuring out if I want 5/0 or 7/0? I want to go with a 5/0 for better hookups but all the others have 7/0 and 8/0 which in my opinion is going way overboard and you will lose fish. Any thoughts on the hook size??
Here she is with 5/0 hooks and a silicon skirt. I think I will go with hair as I have not seen many double 10s with hair..

Location: The Yahara Chain | Grunt, I have a little less than $6 into one of my Dinner Bells. I use a 6/0 hook on the rear and a 5/0 in the middle. The only exception to that is the ones that Aaron has at muskietackleonline they have two 6/0 hooks on them.
It takes me about 30 minutes to make one....twenty minutes to tie the marabou and about 8 minutes to assemble one. I have been making a few with silicon skirts for my own personal use and the cost is a little higher but I can make two in 30 minutes.
Why do you have all of those lure bodies in the back half of that bait? |

Location: Columbus, Georgia | Well Troy, I truly appreciate your post.
I recall back a few months ago when the POLL was posted about guys purchasing baits at the shows. Many of the respondents selected the "stuff is just too expensive" choice.
I am one of those guys that pays the price for whatever equipment I want. Lots of top-of-the-line rods and reels, as well as WAY too many baits (more than one guy can possibly throw). But, I recall the absolute furor that transpired when the cost of some of the newer, large spinner baits were brought into question.
I am a independent businessman and have been all of my life. I personally see nothing wrong with producing a fine quality product and selling such products for a healthy price (often times what the market will bare), thus producing an admirable profit.
Yet the discussions relating to that discussion thread really got ugly (in my book). Producers and manufacturers were really doing a hat-dance, or some posted with the "whoa-is-me" response.
Now I am not referring to handmade wood baits, but rather those large spinner baits that they were assembling at the shows within a few minutes.
I do enjoy those baits, throw them, and they have already caught a lot of fish for many guys. But I just thought it somewhat despicable that guys would deny that they are making a health profit from those baits.... which is what business is all about.
It was embarrassing (for them) that some guys would go out of their way to claim that they are making very little on a spinner bait that is retailing for between $22 and $27.
Thanks for your honesty Troy.
Craig

It helps the bait fly right when casted and it comes in better in my opinion. It will ride higher too. I have tried a few variations and this is the best.

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan | Here are a couple of my homemade bucktails; only size 8 blades though. Cost only 5 bucks to make and take only a couple minutes to make. How do you guys get your pics so big? It says it can only handle 100kb and i have to really reduce the size of my pics to get that.

| make your files jpegs instead of bmp. bitmap files are huge. easiest way to do that is to open the pic in MS Paint, File->save as, then change the file type to jpeg. |

Location: Minnesota | Some jpegs are big too. If that is the case just pop in you jpeg into word or PoewPoint and make the picture smaller adn then right click and Save As jpeg. This will reduce teh size too. If you have PhotoShop you can do it real wasy in that program... |
