Just wondering if anyone has ice report for the Fox Chain of Lakes. Thinking of coming down at the end of March if the ice is clear. Anyone recommend a starting point. Thanks for the help.

Went by today, still got ice fisherman on Marie ,Channel, Bluff, ice is disapating fast with recent warm snap around edges and creek inlets.
Im hoping we're tossing baits by 1 or 2nd week of April.

Can someone tell me where to launch my 620 on the chain? I also understand I will need some sort of sticker for the chain. Where do I get it?

Rick, where you launch your boat is dependant on what lake you want to fish.

The is Barnacle Bob's off of 173 847-395-2036

There is a marina on Bluff,

There is the Thirsty Turtle on Channel, it may be called McDermott's? they changed names 2 years ago and I forget which is which.

to get a sticker, do it online at http://www.foxwaterway.state.il.us/

Good luck out there.

Thinking about coming down to the chain in about 3weeks.

Since I live in Wi and my Boat is Registered in Wi, would I still need to get a sticker just so I could use my boat on the chain for 1 day. If so does that sticker have to be on the boat or could I just carry the sticker in my pocket. Would I also need to fill out the application too.

This whole thing is starting to Confuse me.

If you guys don't want to get gouged for launching your boat, there is a free launch at the Chain o lakes state park. The entrance is off of wilmot road, north of hwy 12, or south of rte 173. You'll drive through the campground, just follow the signs.

The Thirsty Turtle on Channel is $10 every time you launch or $170 for a season long pass. I think Barnacle Bob's on Marie is $12 per launch. Don't know about a season pass at Barnacle Bob's, but I do know that The Thirsty Turtle is a much nicer launch and protected by the wind much better. I've launched at both. Keep the ice reports coming. I plan on getting down as soon as someone says the ice is off.

Muskies vs. Mike

The best place to get the information you are looking for would be to call Barnacle Bob's (847)395-2036. I know he sells the stickers and sells licenses as well, or contact the fox waterway agency themselves.

Yes you need a sticker for 1 day, it is a sticker too, not just a piece of paper. Triangle sports has them too, on grass lake rd.

you need a sticker for 1 day. 10.00 for sticker for 1 day. Any size boat. 10 day pass for 30.00. Triangle bait opens at 5 a.m. on weekends, 530 during week. Barnacle Bobs opens at 6 am Thirsty Turtle has a better launch. (especially if its windy). You don't have to put sticker on boat. But they do check alot so have it handy. Will be at lake tomorrow, and Saturday. If weather stays warm, maybe by weekend. Will give updates.

Was out their today. Channels are open. Petite lake is just about open. Pistakee,Grass and Nippersank are open. Didn't see Channel, Catherine or Marie. Fox is opening up around shorelines. Warm front should have everything open after this weekend. Will be back out their this weekend.

Thank you for the info. It will be nice to get out there and throw for big fish again. Jigging for panfish is fun during the winter but not so much after ice out. I think it will be fun. This trip will help me get used to the new trolling motor I bought.

Any baits that you would recommend for Lake Marie?

Does anyone know if Marie, Channel and Catherine are open yet? I have to think the balmy weather is kicking the tar out
of the ice?

I want to get out this weekend, have a $5 bet on whether the lakes are open or not. any info is greatly appreciated!
