HP Limits Being Raised!!

In an article in the Erie times news, the Pa. Fish and Boat Commission and Department of Natural Resources jointly announced the HP limits on six state parks would be bumped up from 10 to 18 HP.
Pymatuning was not one of them, they are waiting from a response from Ohio, who is keeping Pa. in the dark!!

If you have ever fished the Tune the weather can kick the water up and seening going to the higher HP you can get off the lake alot faster for safety reasons!

Any pros or cons on the subject?

I see no problem with it. It still is too low for the pleasure boaters, and will be safer, especially on the big tune.

I think that for safty purposes it sounds like a good idea. I've been caught out in lightning storms that come out of nowhere in small hp boats and trust me, it's not a good feeling. Most engine mfg's 10hp and 15hp are the same block so pollution and noise shouldn't be too much worse (if your a tree hugger[] ).

I spoke with an ODNR Div of Boating officer at the Cleveland Sportsman Show yesterday and he did say that Ohio is working on the proposal with PA to increase the HP limit on Pymatuning. How soon? Who knows?

For pollution sake a newer 150 will put less crap in the water than a '70 10hp. Just make these lakes no wake. We have them in il and they can be a pain to fish. I bought my license and pay my taxes let me use my boat with my motor. The rule is stupid at best.
