| Hey Guys,
I've got a question how often do you guys replace the line in your reels? I'm headed down to Blaine this weekend and I'm trying to decide of I should buy
some line or not. |

Location: Northern Illinois | I guess that depends on the brand of line and how much you fish. I use the Cortland braided dacron 42 lb test. I change it every other year, but i'm sure I don't fish as much as alot of guys on this site. The most important thing I do is to observe the condition of the first couple of feet of line tied to the leader. This part gets beat up, and if you see any fraying, clip it back a few feet and re-tie. I usually do this once a day on each of the two rods I have. I have one for wood and one for hair. PS: My line may be old school, but it has never failed me. |

Location: On your favorite spot | I reverse it on the spool and usually get 2 seasons out of it. Any doubt whatsoever though about it and it gets replaced right away, I'd be sick if it ever broke on a fish. |

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Better safe than sorry, I change mine once every year because I can afford to, but it's not necessary if it's in good condition.
I use 80-100 lb. Power Pro and Tuff Line

Location: Musky Tackle Online, MN | I change mine either when it doesn't look like new anymore or when I've cut off enough line where the spool is getting noticeably lower. I have some reels that I haven't changed in 4 years. But I get at least 2 years out of my line, depending on how much that reel gets used.

| Fresh 80# Powerpro line every year. I do the reverse thing, too, so I actually buy new line every other year. |

Location: Winnipeg Manitoba | I use it 2 years and reverse it after the first. I could probably get more time out of it but I loose a lot of line after 2 years from re- tying |
