Anyone use a custom rod from Thorne Bros. with one of their blanks (not St. Croix or Diamondback). They are $179 and was thinking of the 8' 6" model. With free shipping they sound pretty attractive!

Yeah unfortunately the 8' 6" rods don't come a whole lot cheaper. Also thinkin of the Tica, but with shipping it's $140.

Great thanks H2O, do you recall the lure weight on your 8H? The website doesn't list it on the one I'm looking at.

I use this rod to throw larger baits, like larger cranks, Mag Dawgs (about 6-7 ozs. ?) double and triple bladed bucktails, and large top water prop baits.
You can't go wrong buying a custom rod from Thorne Bro's and I think the one I have comes with a lifetime warrentee.

The rod you're talking about is the C-Series.They rock!I had 2 of them for clients to use last season because of the durability and the fact that it will handle anything from a Mepps Giant Killer to a Pounder.Great rod and a great value for a buck79. Steve
