Location: nationwide | There are two types of globes, those where the rear section turns freely around the wire and those where the rear section and wire are together. The globes I have made have the wire secured to the rear section.
With that said I have never weighted the rear section of a globe to make it run "true". Just like you state, the weight of the hook should keep the body from rolling. Now if the lure is retrieved with some speed the body may roll, or if the wire shaft is bent to the point where it binds on the head tube or rivets the lure may roll as well.
Now if you want talk about weighting the heads of globes . ... that's another story.
