| Just received one section of rope lighting from CDabelas today. They suggest you place it where heat can disipate. I wanted to put it under the gunnel, where the bulbs won't shine in my eyes. Anyone use these things, how did you hang it? Thanks. |

Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | Is it availble in red light? I have been looking for rope lighting in red for the same purpose. Red does not kill your night vision. |

| Check out www.sailorsams.com. They carry the red LED rope light in 12 volt for the boat. I believe it sells for $2.75 per foot. |

Location: Lino Lakes, MN | I would highly suggest the red rope lighting. I installed some of the white rope lights on my first boat using clips that were screwed into the floor. It lit everything up very well...so much so that it completely killed the night vision of anyone in the boat and of any boat that got too close. It was nice for finding stuff on the floor or re-tying but beyond that it was pretty useless. The red lighting would have been a much better idea. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess. A buddy of mine has LED lights installed throughout his boat and they are great. They are plenty bright and don't kill your night vision at all. I believe that he had them professionally installed when he had his boat rigged but I can't imagine that they would be too tough to put in as long as you can find the right lights. Good luck with whatever route you decide to take...I really miss having a boat to play around with. |

Location: Columbus, Georgia | Rope lighting will throw heat.
Bass Pro Shops offers LED strips in 10", 16" and 24" sections. They draw very little power and throw little if any heat. They run around $39 for the 16" strip (just received 4 such strips in Amber to mount under the gunnels on my Crestliner).
The item is not stocked, and shipped factory-direct within a few weeks.
