HI All: Those who have been on the board for a while know about this for new commers My Neice was Brutally Murdered,Raped & Mutilated last summer. The State police did capture a suspect within hours hard evidence along with DNA link this person to her murder. Now the Scum sucking defense lawyers want to move the trial to a new county so that the accused can get a fair trial claiming that at every hearing the number of Family and freinds that show up would influence any jury's descision, so by relocating the trial the Numbers of supporters would drop enabeling a fair trial. I'll let you know what happens the hearing for the relocation is next week

Dr. John,
May God bless you and your family, I know your ordeal will be made all the more painful by the re-living of this tragedy thru the courts. In this country, the presumption of innocence is one of our most cherished liberties.
That said, I hope they got the right guy, they give him a fair trial, and then hang him. I hope your family can find peace. m

We're pulling for you John. Americans don't forgive and forget. Al Qaeda found that out. So will this guy.

It only makes it harder for the family to see justice done. Believe me I've seen it. Anyway, continue to support each other and enjoy each others company. The end will come soon enough.

Do you mind giving us a little more info? What is he being prosecuted for, 1st or 2nd degree murder? What state you're from? Hopefully, he gets charged with 1st degree (and your in the right state), the bastard will die.

John, I believe I told you a bit about my cousin's murder in response to your post a few months ago. I don't think I mentioned how hard and smart the prosecuters worked to counter the defense lawyers' tactics, lay out all the facts and put the creeps away for years and years and years. We didn't recognize how the prosecuters carefully balanced their passion with their patience until the end of the trial process. They know by experience that these things take an unbearably long time, so they stayed focused with a determination that resulted in each of the two young murderers getting minimun sentences of 40 years.

One of the hardest things for our family was facing their family at the trials. Their family all drove over in the same 1978 Cadillac from the local trailer park, if you know what I mean. They would make comments for us to hear - why their guys were going to be found completely innocent, why my cousin had it coming, etc. They would all stand at the building entrance smoking cigaretts before and after the trial sessions (every damn one smoked, too, from the 12 year old to the 90 year old and all 5 generations in between). We had to tolerate their, well, harrassment, each time we entered or left the building.

In hindsight, the attitude - "No matter long it takes and regardless of the tricks I know you'll try to pull, I'm grimly determined to see you guys hang." was the way to go in managing the trial process.

Just some thoughts from our experience - yours is different but maybe these observations can be of some use to you.

Thanks Guys for your thoughts and concerns, For obvious reasons I can not go into a lot of detail about the trial I will give you all a history once this has been put to and end. The States Attorney is going for the DEATH PENALTY due to the nature and extreme brutality in her death.

It's really frustrating that this keeps being prolonged as the pain for the Family just does not seem to go away especially for her father, she was murdered on a monday by the time the coroner released her it was thursday the wake was held on Sunday(Fathers Day) and she was laid to rest on Monday (Her Birthday). I will keep you up to-date as things progress
