Location: KY | I have a couple of deep cell batteries hooked up to a 24V motor that have served me well for three seasons. I Keep them on a trickle charger year round and check/replace water regularly. On the last trip of the year they were fading towards the end of a hard day. I would like to keep using them as long as possible. How can I tell what life they have left in them without finding out the hard way? Can I take them to an auto center and have them tested?
Thanks,

I would suggest the Trojan 31 AGM's. These puppies ROCK. |

| Take them to a good battery store, and have them load tested. Batterys Plus may do this. I know Remy Battery in Milwaukee does this. I'm not sure if a Firestone, Goodyear, or other automotive type place has the load testers to check them properly. You may have to call around and ask. |

Location: Davenport, IA | Most parts stores and car dealerships can check them too. But 3 years is pretty good. If I could get 3 years out of a trolling battery I would be really happy. I'm lucky to get 1 full season. |

Location: KY | Thanks guys
I was hoping to get a few more trips out of the batteries. I only use the boat 10-15 days a year.
I would like to make an informed decision if I do buy new.

| SHEP!!!!! Right on for REMY Battery in Milwaukee.
I have 2- 150 AMP Deep Cycle batteries that are 3 years old and going strong.
I have an on-board charger that I plug in every other day when I'm on trips, and They have yet to let me down. I have a 12 volt system and run the parrallel.
I'm sure that I'll need new ones after this season or next, but REMY batteries are tough as nails and very affordable.

| Beav, Yup. The Remy Batterys are made by Johnson Controls in Milwaukee. Same as the Intestate, Delco, and some others, I believe. Good pricing too. I usually got 4 years out of mine, before they showed any sign of losing reserve.
How did your hockey kids end up in the Badger State Games? Did you find that Italian Place? |
