Looking for some opinions on the Riviera dual planer mast system, specifically the Kachman automatic retrieval model. Does the auto feature work as well as you would like or should a person keep it simple and get the hand crank model. I am planning to insert the mast into a spare front seat post on a 620, I shold be able to do that,Right? Thanks, Ken.

The Kachman reels are sweet. I have a Cannon mast system and got a Kachman for handlining. Use it on my planer mast after I'm done river fishing for eyes in the early spring. Smooth to set your boards out w/o tangles and easy to bring in by simply turning the boat toward the board and releasing the line to auto retrieve. I used to put my mast in my front pedestal but found that it was not high enough to work the way I like. Moved it to the bow and gained a foot and now it is much easier to use.

The Riviera's Kachman works great. I have the hand cranks and would upgrade in a minute.
