I have seen that some of these Bass fisherman have started making baits with lips made of circuit board material. I believe they call it mircata or g10. Has anybody tried this on musky baits and if so what thickness do you use?

In a former life I used to race windsurfers and most of the high performance fins were made of G-10. It's a very solid material, but one problem is that they "flake" when run across abrasive surfaces. The material is actually many layers of material that is resined together. I don't think it'd be a good material if you're going to be crunching rocks with a big bait.

Although what do I know. Try it and let us know.

Yes it would be no good for musky baits. Way to brittle. Lexan in my opinion is the best material even better than aluminium because it has some flex to it.

I normaly do not like lexon lips because i always break them but on the good side i would rather break a lip than loose a $20.00 lure!!!!!!

I don't see how you are breaking lexan. You must mean some other kind of plastic. You can take a piece of lexan and bend it until both sides touch and it won't break. It may be coming unglued from the wood but it's extremely hard to break.

Wouldn't the circuit board lips hold up OK if they were coated in epoxy along with the rest of the lure?

I have seen bass guys using them on their baits but as already stated I think the would be way too brittle. When you thinkabout it most bass guys are using them on shallow running baits (i.e. very small lips) which do not require much forgiveness.

In regard to breaking lexan, are you sure your using polycarbonate? or are you using acrylic? I gave the polycarbonate I have a good run through when I first got it and I can almost bend a 90 degree angle in it without it breaking, and that was a cold bend too! The stuff is pretty amazing, I personally have a hard time understanding how they are breaking on you.

If you coated the circuit board lips you would be defeating the purpose of using it in the first place. Some custom bass bait makers are starting to use it because they feel do to it's material make-up and being thin it produces better fish catching vibration. It's yet to be proven tho.

I intend to use the circuit board lips for a VERY shallow running bait that is very boyant. It probably wouldn't ever contact the bottom. This very brittle factor that keeps being mentioned is this a problem because of structure or the fish thats wacking these things? I heard that this material is very durable and everyone here says otherwise. Anybody ever heard about price? If it's more expensive we can end this chat real quick
