BEHIND THE SCREEN NAME

Does animity behind screen names let you be yourself or does it let you be someone else besides yourself. I have met quite a few guys over the last 2 years and they are never what I pictured them to be. For instance I have attached a picture of myself. Let me know if I look like what you pictured.

Musky Illini,
I saw a paper written by some highbrow sociologist who talked about the ramifications to socialty since the advent of the automoble. He went on to say that it was hoped that the car would turn us into an even more diverse and understanding society than we were at the time due to the increased ability to move around more freely and thus, come into contact with more diverse people and ideas. He then made a case (and a bit of a strong one) that just the opposite had happened. The automoble had allowed us to close off the rest of the people around us as we considered our world to be that metal shell that we drove around in, at least when we were on the roads. The point being that this internet thing and the way we communicate and associate with each other is similar. Give some poeple something to hide behind, be it a car to hide or feel safe in or a screen name to hide behind, and there will be those who would not say SH*& if they had a mouth full, but will open their blow hole at the first thing that upsets them or goes against THEIR feelings or beliefs. They are the same people who flip you off at an intersection or cut you off and drive like a jerk on the street as if it belongs to them and them alone.

So in answer to your question: I believe most people can come to a forum like this and be themselves, there will always be the percentage that can not. The differnce here is it is harder to tell who is for real and who is a fake because you never get to look them in the eye. Makes all the difference in the world.

Enough of this rant. [:halo:]

I've seen myslef change since I started posting. I used to be more cocky, shooting off my mouth. But I've gotten familiar with some of the regulars and now I try to me more reserved, like I would behave in person.

If I knew how to download a picture of myself, and since Samuel Jackson is taken, I would be.......

Mr. T, fool! Or Jethro Bodine because I've always admired his positive self-image and great career ideas. (Did'ja see the one where he decided to be an astronaut so he could spend all day "chattin' with moon maidens and snackin' on green cheeze"?

I didn't know that Jason Long and Kevin Levrone were the same person.

It's pretty sad that I knew who that was. I need to get out of the gym and onto the water.

Jason it must be pretty easy to work those deep diving crank baits when you have 15" forearms.

I also feel that you can be yourself on this baord, hence my name. I didn't feel like typing my entire name very time (heck, do you know how long that woulod take me??) so I took an abreviation.

BTW, Jlong then who is that guy in your articles holding those muskies?? I bet you hired a stand-in for that pic so you wouldn't reveal your real identity! [;)] []

I just used the same handle as I have for my E mail address. Just sounds like I know more than I really do. So I guess that I am sort of hiding in front of my screen name..........I don't know if it really matters all that much. A lot of you folks allready know me any way. Everybody that comes to the Muskie 1st outing on Bone lake in June, I will meet you then.
