Which one of these would you suggest for pulling in the big blades if you had to choose between the Calcutta 400 (not the TE) or the Diawa Luna? I talking Cowgirls, Double XX, the big ones.

I have not thrown those baits on the 400b but the Luna does do a good job. You can also put a power handle on the Luna or Calcutta which is nice. A handle from the Shimano Tekota trolling reels fits both, just make sure you order the whole handle assembly from shimano (handle, nut and bracket piece that hold the nut in place) This is a considerably cheaper option than ordering the power handle that comes on the 700 Calcutta.

I threw Cowgirls,XX's all year with a calcutta 400b with no problems at all...this year I am going to give the luna 300 a try from the reply's this the reel to get. One other thing that I liked about the calcutta is that it is not one dimensional...I can throw everything with this reel. where the 4 to 1 reels are probably better for this aplication but suffer with alot of other lure retrieves that are needed with other lures.
just my 2 cents.

On one side...Shimano. On the other....Diawa/St. Croix. 4 out of 5 musky hunters preferred Shimano in our national taste test. lol
